Even gave Eddie the shout out...super cool...
He said he was watching Eddie's videos online and was telling everyone in his gym he was gonna use the twister in a UFC fight. Awesome!
Im wacthing it with my mom and i flipped out screaming TWISTER TWISTER and my mom goes "whats wrong with you" LOL

I seriously doubt any of the Gracies give a damn, if anything I'm sure they are excited to see another MMA win via submission. Props to Eddie for creating an amazing system, its great seeing the twister in the MMA spotlight.

I think that maybe some dislike him, but you don't have to label an entire family for the actions of a few. And trust me, I've trained with plenty of traditional bjj players who hate on 10th planet for absolutely no reason at all. And they definitely don't get those ideas from their own mind because if they thought for themselves for a second they would see the practicality in the system, especially after this fight.
basically a repeat of when the Judokas accused the Gracies of stealing from judo when they were simply evolving the system except now there's a role switch, bravo is in the Gracies shoes. Funny how things work.
Renner Gracie is a fan of Eddie and the system. Thats what Eddie said to me after I delivered a message from Renner saying hi to Eddie in 2009 when I visited the HQ in Torrence CA. That was enough for me that Renner is real about our system, he is also a really cool guy.
Where is this thread going? Let's get off the gracie/Eddie hate train and focus on whats really important here.. We just witnessed a Twister in the UFC! Thats going to be a HUGE step forward for 10th planet. Now lets just pray for the sorcerer ;)

I was just trying to get the focus back on the main point.. being the Twister in UFC.. I consider this a win for both the Gracies and Eddie.. Its a step forward in jiujitsu as a whole. Hopefully this will open some peoples eyes to the evolution that has been occurring in jiujitsu the past years as they begin to research this new "Twister" that they are all seeing for the first time. And it will inevitably lead them this direction. Which means soon people wont have a choice but to learn the system.. if nothing else.. just to know how to defend against the foreign moves. So I just think that anytime you see something like the Twister, Rubberguard, Sorcerer, Or another 10th planet friendly move utilized in front of such a large audience.. Twister mutha fucking Twister !! i jumped out of my seat, grabbed my copy of Mastering the Twister, and said " thats what the fuck i'm talking about " Chan sung Jung, the 10th planet nation salutes you ! I bet Eddie went fucking crazy in the broadcast truck.
Guys, this technique has nothing to do with anyones jiu jitsu system, its a western wrestling technique. Props for 10th planet in allowing a system that embraces techniques from all over the world, but at the end of the day its still a wrestlers guillotine. Eddie repeatedly gives props to it in every demonstration I've ever seen, and is IMO a pioneer of the sport of no gi jj / submission wrestling!!

Right, except for the fact that it was set up from back control, he figure fours his legs, and connects his hands while not giving a shit about pinning or gettin pinned. Def inspired by it though, but he tweeked and evolved tha fuck out of it.
In wrestling its set up from the back control as well.. and sometimes people figure four their legs and other times they just use one extended leg.. you also wrap your hands around their head and crank like a mother just the same(except you're cranking so both shoulders meet the mat). Its the same exact move.. hurts like a bitch(I've seen refs give the pin to something that is questionable just to save the other from injury)Quote:

read my sig! But seriously....the gracies are about making money and marketing gracie combatives as the REAL jiu jitsu..the pure uncut jiu jitsu. It really is about all that. Now, of course when they are interviewed they come up with flimsy reasons...I think Royce had a problem with the names that eddie gave the moves. He said there were no names for the moves...now some guys are going around giving the moves names like they invented them.
From what I understand, eddie gave the moves names so they could remember them. I find myself educating gracie students all the time. Eddie is a Machado gi blackbelt that developed a no-gi jiu jitsu system that takes adavantage of his flexibility.
hey...for those that recognized the twister is an old wrestling move....how old are you guys? I mean I wrestled in high school in the 80s when you could still neck crank. Isn't all that stuff banned now? We used get guys out before they could even submit and some refs didn't even know we were doing it.
My coach wrestled for 6 years so he incorporates it into the jiu jitsu..because those neck cranks make your game...EVIL!
