WTF. I just watched it... I guess ZUFFA sued them? They gave Eddie props, showed the Chevy Twister setup, etc.
I liked the Johnson/Hardy breakdown also. The transitions, and alternatives from Johnson's positions were helpful.
Damn, that was fast. I was wondering how they were getting away with using the footage from the fights.
Fuck sake I was looking foward to watching it but it's already gone! Fucking Zuffa!! does a few seconds of footage really hurt them that much financially? It's not as if the Gracies are putting all of the fights on their channel for free now is it?
Never reach for the calf crank with the near arm kids..
I didn't get to see it, but I really like their breakdowns. I'm sure they will put up a new version soon.
damnit.. I didn't get to see it either... I also really enjoy their breakdowns. If the clip was 30 sec or less it should still be fair game I believe(can't imagine why it would be longer).. so they can counter the zuffa claim and repost(if that was the case)..
No zuffa didn't sue them.. zuffa made a claim to youtube that the youtube channel violated the dmca. Because youtube doesn't want to be sued for hosting copy written material, they must comply and remove whatever it was.(viacom had a billion dollar law suit against youtube that recently wrapped up.. google won)
In many cases companies will file a false dmca even when you fall within the guidelines.. either they aren't paying attention and spamming everything that comes up or they just don't care(and very few people will counter the claim so its to their benefit).
Technically thats a federal offense and you can sue them into the ground(seen it happen.. not against a company though).. but good luck getting anywhere with that.
If they do fall within the dmca guidelines they can simply file a counter claim.. and youtube will restore the video.
I think Zuffa should not copyright claim ANY VIDEO WITH A GRACIE IN IT...for fuck's sake...really?!?!? Hopefully rener and them will re-cut it without the footage....
Does anybody know how to get a hold of Dana White so we can ask him to let the Gracies breakdown continue? All they do is present information that helps the UFC fans understand the intricacies of BJJ, so that the can better appreciate what's happening on the ground.
I was really looking forward to it. and they took its down before most of us could see it. Rats!
Please, anybody reading this and with a twitter account, Let Dana White know that you want to see the gracie breakdown of Saturday's fights on youtube. Its just information.

Bullshit greedy bastards
ok...the gracies just sent a tweet for dana:
@danawhite the Gracie Breakdowns were intended to educate #UFC fans. What can we do to make it work?
good point. For us jiu jitsu noobs...this stuff is vital. We don't see the setups, so it really helps us "get it"
with copyright law, when infringed it MUST be enforced, it's precedence based. If they don't enforce everywhere they can't enforce anywhere...not saying it's right, thats just how the law works
That's the thing. They DON'T enforce it everywhere. Otherwise other "Breakdowns" would also have been removed.
If they only used a small segment of the clip used as an aide to their own knowledge (i.e. it's not the point of the video) then doesn't the content fall under the Fair Use Guidelines?
Since when has copy write law worked like that? You can allow whoever you want to use the material.. if they saw it fit they could allow everyone but you to use it. Its all up to the "intellectual property" holder to decide who can use it being that its his/her/their property.
Unless I'm completely missing something?
Edit: also sidenote... can someone tell me how twitter works really quick. When I click on that link what am I looking at. Assume those are all his tweets.. how can I see what people tell him? Or do I need an account?.. if so fuck that not getting dragged into twitter.
yes!!!
He has it down to a tee, too! Shows how he did it, the mistakes he made and said a very fundamental theory:
"The best defense to the Twister is to master the Twister"
Looks like this could get settled soon:
"RenerGracie Rener Gracie

For anyone who just didn't get to see the fight, it's gonna replay Wed. night at 6:00 p.m. (eastern)
It's great to educate people about the jiu jitsu aspect of MMA, but I'm sure the idiots that "Boo" and yell "Stand 'em up" as soon as fighters go to the ground wouldn't watch the breakdowns anyway.
