Very Nice.....:)
Eddie hit a nice sweep around 4:00 when Brandon went for the twister pass. I do a sweep from that position but I don't keep the lockdown through the whole motion. I can see that keeping the lockdown gives you a lot more control of your opponent as you do the sweep.
Eddie, do you have a name for that sweep ?
proud of ya! wish my half guard was that hard to pass.
enjoyed, thank you : )
iv hit that sweep when people go to twister pass. It makes since if someone is in twister pass since their sorta leaning back. However I do get my arm kimured way to much when i try it :( anyhow Brandon I posted a question on your face book but i might as well post it here too...........so
Brandon what makes Eddie's quarter guard so hard to pass? I know he didnt work lockdown much you kept him from that. But for real say what makes his different from ours? I gave up on quarter guard and lolockdown pretty much cuz it keeps getting passed however hes not doing anything different from what i do . Is it just his squeeze or something? Thanx :)
I want that rashguard...
Nice roll. Btw, what kind of a strat is that in your profile pic?
Badass! I also hit that sweep off of 5 0 control.
WAKE THE FUCK UP BRANDON! lol A TORNADO IS COMING! or at least it is here. Damn before I die you should at least answer my question :)
i think the thing that made his guard hard to pass (for me, at least) was the threat i felt from him. i know what he's capable of from there and it made me timid, to say the least. for instance, i started applying pressure against him from top half guard and wanted to look for the d'arce. but as soon as i began to weave my right arm through he took my wrist. all i could think was "he's gonna try the mechanic sweep," so i backed off.
i try to be very patient in my guard passing, but of course he is patient in playing his guard. that turned into a boring game for observers probably, but i found it intriguing as a player. (BTW, jean jacques has a DVD where he discusses the patience required in the passing/guard game. he says that it's good to get to a secure and safe position and wait for your opponent to move/make a mistake before proceeding. there is a purple belt in that video that looks very familiar... can't remember his name...)
when i tried that twister pass the first time i felt him reach up for Apollo control, so i made a quick switch back to avoid it. the second time i jumped through to try the twister pass my weight was wrong. he made a small hip shift and a swim and i was over. i started trying to recover to guard, but he was on my arm quickly, looking for the inverted arm bar/kimura series. things went downhill sharply from there :)
and by the way, his arm crush is BRUTAL. i didn't tap, but i should have, 'cause my arm was very sore the next day.
Both of ya'll threatened and defended the apollo choke/sweep nicely. Not boring at all.
Wasn't boring at all. It was awesome to watch the tail end of it live and see the rest through the video.
I was wondering how bad that arm crush felt.
Brah, the mechanic is a must. We will remedy this asap. And yeah, love the omo-mill. Game changer. Do bad ya'll ran out of mat.
Nice work Brandon!
So whats the name of that sweep eddie does at 4:00? that might be a great counter to the twister pass, Ive never seen that before.
