Please don't let stupid people color your view of all Christians. Stupid people are especially prevalent in religious communities, it's a shame, because people like myself get ignored because of bad experiences with others.

Just because something got corrupt because a bunch of stupid people got involved in it it does not mean that the general ideas of it were not right. Or that everyone is like them. There's no point in fighting about something that nobody can prove. We will all find out who was right when we die. If one doesn't believe in an after life heaven or hell then it shouldn't matter because they belive when on dies that's it. But christians do believe so if there right there is a WHOLE lot of things to be worried about. If christians are wrong they still are in the same boat as those who don't believe so in all it does not hurt to be christian as much as it does not to be. That's just my take on it at least. ;-)
