Its sucks when these blackbelts just lay on there back and just use their guard to defend. In my mind people need to start attacking from their back in mma. bjj used to be the most dangerous weapon in mma. Now u just see wrestlers take them down at will and watch them get pounded out or just lose the fight instead of going for subs what do you guys think

AGREED! been saying this for a while with my friends, it makes me really doubt the credibility of some of these black belts. sometimes they barely show any skill defending, let alone attacking. just makes me sad really, and angry :(
I think BJJ is a beautiful sport, I just happen to think that NOGI JJ is even better because of the MMA effectivity aspects. Just remember that with the GI on it's sooooo much more of a defensive game than nogi, at least in my opinion. I'm not surprised with what comes out when a gi black belt does MMA and it hits the ground in a fight.
the guard in MMA is just weak. Everywhere I've trained, I always have guys yelling at me for having someone in my guard, but that's where I'm strongest really. Makes me think everyone is teaching that the guard is a bad place to be, but for me it's the most comfortable place. All my subs come off my back or when I'm on my opponents back. It's a little disappointing to see some high level Jiu Jitsu players doing absolutely nothing from guard.
Agree 100%. This is where 10PJJ comes in to fill in the gap in MMA when on the back in guard. Offensive guards for the win!Quote:

So you think these BJJ black belts don't have strong guards? I'm sure they are far more comfortable there than you are. You think they forgot the basic guard submissions and just aren't trying them? Maybe it's something else, haha, like improved quality of defense.Quote:
