suicide bombings, bridge bombings, assasinations, and nukes
whatre u getting at?
i think its too soon for obama to make such a statement.
He's calming the scared sheep. That's all!
how could it not be true that it is safer with one less terrorist???
Are you saying it was safer with him alive?
"I mourn the loss of thousands of previous lives, but will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate mulitplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darknes: only light can. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
exactly...calming the dead sheep. Here's the thing...Killing Usama will not stir up the masses. They were already stirred up. They were not sending us chocolate and roses for not killing him all of these years. We are no more in danger than we have been. I always thought that if we dealt with terrorism like the Israeli's in that you kill terrorists, not negotiate and capture them that much of this crap would check itself.
I know one thing, I am glad the president didn't clean up the bodies or show footage of the corpse. I think that was the biggest mistake with bush when he put makeup on Hussein's sons...violated islamic law and pissed off the whole arab world by seemingly flaunting the dead bodies.
its better then "be afraid the boogie man is out there you need to give up your civil liberties or you wont be safe."
One dead another will arise. There is no end to war.
"It is wonderful to be back in Oregon," Obama said. "Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it."
This was the dumbest thing he ever said.
I think they should show his body as proof they actually killed him. I have a hard time with taking the governments word on this one
Sorry i like Dr. king better. A man who experienced some of the worst hatred imaginable and leader of the civil rights movement. not a privileged white man whose family owned slaves.
My worry is if there will be repercussion for us taking him out.
There will always be repercussions. I'm glad Osama was defeated.
something like this...
"It is the common fate of the indolent to see their rights become a prey to the active. The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance." -John Philpot Curran (1790)
Also that MLK quote is not legit.

more accurate to say the original post is dumb and not the president's quote.
im with freddy
im sorry i basically said just wait for suicide bombings, bridge bombings, assasinations, and nukes
there are terrorist attacks all over the world..bombings of ambassador buildings, US Navy ships run into by boats with bombs, suicide bombers in every country from Spain to Afghanistan. Most of these acts trickle down from organizations that headed by people like Bin Laden. With a powerfully influential person dead, there (in theory) will be less of that terrorism mentioned.
That is at best a future result, if anything, a man died for his actions of the past. His millions in money and influence funded terrorism and he has paid for it with his life.
And don't worry, there aren't people in the Arab world wondering where there going to get housing, food, water, or living supplies because "a" Bin Laden is dead. These men don't spread love and or help there communities as a whole. They destroy who they don't like, even they if live right next door to them and they pray to the same person. When his millions of dollars were frozen, there weren't starving communities because of it. Unless you count terrorist cells communities.
Don't think he will just become a martyr for the cause now? Since us forces shot him unarmed.
And don't believe the hype, they don't hate the us because its the land of the free... They hate the us because they want to be the world police and govern it by their own laws and rules.
I believe the elimination of Osama Bin Laden as a subtraction of hate from a positive world. We did not wish destruction on his people. He, not Muslims, wished destruction on ours. I believe we, as Americans, as human beings, at the time, were more than willing to live in peace. Who knew what a Muslim was before 09/11/2001? Can you remember? Of you that knew...who thought of them as evil? It is not the actions of a culture that dictated this. It was and still is evil men and their twisted beliefs. That is what is being ridden from the world.
I, NOT ALONE, stacked body bags (both bodies and parts) in a refrigerator container for 2 and a half months (the recovery took over a year) after the attack on the corner of Church St and Vesey St. Dubbed "The North Morgue." Searched "The Pile" for those bodies and parts. The amount of unrest we feel is insurmountable. It is the same as the family's of those lost and those who responded to The Pentagon and Shanksville, PA along those that suffer the ailments.
It is not the snuffing of a life being celebrated. It is the elimination of a bad belief. It is not the celebration of death but the elimination of an evil.
Your use of the good Doctor's words may not be appropriate here.
"It is not the snuffing of a life being celebrated. It is the elimination of a bad belief. It is not the celebration of death but the elimination of an evil."

This is way worse then 9/11 and so is Afghanistan and the Gulf war.
And what Israel is doing to the Palatines.
I respect and admire your courage in dealing with such a tragedy. However, it is my belief that the majority of this terrorist hate, along with all hate in general, comes from a failed society. Everything stems from somewhere. Ridding the world of bin laden doesnt rid the world of the hate that created him and will continue to create many others. For as long as we deal with the products of a sick society rather than the sickness..nothing will change. We will merely cut the weeds and watch as they grow back again. Hence, no the "bad belief" has not been addressed just a bad believer.
Dr. king kings words are extremely fitting. Even after the bombing of his home he stood outside his porch and begged an angry mob not to retaliate violently against the white racists which did so... saying " to meet violence with love". Here is the beginning of that quote, which should further demonstrate his position on violence:
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral,
begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy.
Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
Through violence you may murder the liar,
but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth.
Through violence you may murder the hater,
but you do not murder hate.
In fact, violence merely increases hate.
So it goes.
I like that. "For as long as we deal with the products of a sick society rather than the sickness..nothing will change. We will merely cut the weeds and watch as they grow back again." I think your words are more fitting. I believe you're correct in this statement with the exception that those products must be dealt with along with the society.
Terrorism and the belief that America is an evil land will not be overcome with hugs. These people are willing to erase us from existence. Their efforts must be at the very least matched if not multiplied. To stop future attacks and even more difficult, to change a belief. Osama Bin Laden is the poster child for this belief. The orchestrator of many attacks around the world. His elimination is necessary in a movement towards our safety.
Violence is a necessary part of the world. Dr. Kings words are inspiring. I wish people could actually follow them. But handing out hugs to terrorists isn't going to get anywhere. Violence is in our nature. In my eyes it's us against them. They have to die.
It's possible, of course. And I think that he will to some degree but how much is uncertain.
I think of what would have happened if we killed Hitler when his own people were trying to take him over. Would WWII have lasted as long? Would they have had another Hitler come in his place to kill millions? Would they have said "Holy shit that dude was crazy, we have to stop that madness". Because Hitler was powerful and we killed him, and not too many Germans gave a shit. Had we killed him sooner, it most likely would have been the same result.
And for whatever reasons they hate us for are all multiplied and twisted by the people in power and told to the public how they want it to be told so they hate us. You think they tell them how we helped feed hungry people all over the world, or that we helped millions of Muslims that were being persecuted because of there religion by Saddam. No they weren't told those things.
Whatever reasons people have to hate us do not constitute being terrorized, especially when you know the whole picture.
And I don't mind being disliked (hated) because of something someone believes isn't right when they know the entire story of the US. But you think they are getting that? People in that area of the world believe the Holocaust was done by the Jewish people themselves.
First; Adolf Hitler killed himself after the war was surrendered. And can in no way what so ever be compared to Osama Bin Laden since Adolf Hitler did say stupid shit to guerrilla warriors who couldn't read, but lead a coalition of countries.
Second; The US put Saddam in power. And went in and removed him, while killing their children and raping their women, really doesn't make you any better then him.
"People in that area of the world believe the Holocaust was done by the Jewish people themselves." this is a fact? or something you believe because Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says so?
...its commander-in-chief. The irony is delicious.
My bad, your right he killed himself because we were on his door step (figuratively speaking). Either way though, when he and his few very loyal followers (in leadership rolls) disappeared, there ideologies died too. And I say disappeared because of the majority of the public view (that were brainwashed).
I disagree that they can't be compared. They both took advantage of there position and my point was since Hitler wasn't speaking for everyone in Germany and brainwashed an entire country whats to say Bin Laden isn't doing the same thing and its only going to take his, and some others, removal to shed some light to everyone. Whats the difference between telling the German public that Jews spread disease and telling Muslims that God damns the USA and should be the target of a Holy war?
"People in that area of the world believe the Holocaust was done by the Jewish people themselves." this is a fact? or something you believe because Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says so?
This is a fact.
