You might have a groin pull and the worst part, you might have an inguinal hernia. Sorry to here this man, it can be a very depressing time in your bjj career. I've had two inguinal hernia's and another one was very recent. It started off as a groin pull and somehow turned into a hernia. This is very treatable but you really have to sort out your options. I'm not a doctor but going to the doctor is a waste of money, they will all say the same thing and the only way you will really find out what's wrong is if you get an X-Ray of the area.
What you can do right now that can stop the pain...
1) Stop doing BJJ, Muay Thai, Running, Lifting, or ANYTHING physical. If you have a hernia this will make matters worse. Stop stretching as well, this will tear the muscle worse and create more discomfort in your groin. (Stop these activities for at LEAST 3 weeks. If the pain subsides, take baby-steps into rehabilitation and recovery, you'll be back soon at this point.)
2) Only have sex with you on bottom. The motions of you on top can cause your groin pull to hurt more.
3) Take Ibuprofen (700mg per day for two weeks). If the pain still continues after two weeks, see a doctor and demand an X-Ray.
4) RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate; in that order. You really need to take time off your body to heal, that's the only way you can get your body over this. Rest up as much as possible. Ice your groin area a couple times a day. Some people like to use the formula (5 on 1 off) meaning 5 minutes of icing, 1 minute of Heat. Heating pads are your friend, if you have it. I found that if you use IcyHot on your groin area, it will really irritate your testicles with an annoying burn. Try to stick only with ice and a heating pad if you have it. Elevate your leg on pillows; make it so that one of your legs look like an incline treadmill, this will help with your groin by keeping the pressure off the area and allowing even more rest to your groin.
5) Jacuzzi's and bathtubs are your friend. They will help ease the pain and possibly take your mind off the pain for little bit and give your body some relaxation.
I did this and I never had to get surgery on my hernia. If you do have to get surgery, I REALLY, REALLY recommend going here.
http://hernia.tripod.com/technique.html They have a 99.5% success rate of their customers never having a hernia again. If surgery's weren't so much to fix it and money wasn't a problem, I would get mine done here in a heartbeat. North Penn Hernia Institute. Most doctors deal with hernia's as much as 30 in one year, as Penn deals with hundreds in a month. They specialize in this field and really know their material. How they fix and treat a hernia is much different than a normal doctor or clinic will. If you are interested the website is

We're all pulling for you to recover, man. Take it easy, don't lift weights, don't stretch, and don't do anything aggressive. If you do have sex, stay on bottom and I would recommend staying away from heavy lifting, deadlifts, sit-ups, and squats for a couple months at least. This process can heal on it's own, if your lucky, and the earliest you can be back on the mats is 3 weeks from now. 7-8 weeks from now if the pain continues. Just continue other hobbies, read a book, and stay low-key for a couple weeks.
In no way, shape, or form am I a doctor. Everything I know about this matter is through my own life experiences and I'm trying to help inform you with information about the topic and possibly save you a few doctor's trips and some money in the long run. Hope everything works out.
