I feel bad for gsp
But that shows u how beast he is, he was missing an eye, and still won!!!
(I wanted shields to win)
Honestly, I didn't care who won, I like both fighters. But I'd like to see GSP put in a bad position and see how he works from it. I don't know if I've ever seen him in a crappy spot before.
wait being blind in one eye isn't a bad position?
He also said "don't worry you hve another eye"
Greg jackson is a stud and knows exactly what to say to each fighter. Seems like thats the way gsp needs to be addressed
Hmm...I didn't think of that as a "bad position" but your'e right. I was thinking more of being mounted, or someone having his back, or him being totally dazed like round 1 of Edgar vs Maynard. Yeah though, GSP fought for what 3 rounds with one eye? Yeah, he may not be finishing people every time, but he's a champion for a reason. Good call Zaya.
My only complaint about GSP is the lack of a killer instinct. He doesn't finish anybody, at least upper level. As much as I love Matt Hughes, it just doesn't count in my books.
I think that GSP is definitely one of the best athletes in the game, but not necessarily the best fighter simply because he does not finish. He wins fights, you gotta give him that but it gets sooo boring. How couldn't he have knocked Jake out? Jake has no stand up skills. He stands super stiff, he's slow as fuck, and leaves his chin wide open. GSP only used three moves the whole fight. Superman Punch, spinning back kick, and overhand right. Sure his striking was superior to Jakes but it wasn't impressive. It's easy to talk shit from where I'm sitting, I'm not in the ring but all of this is just my opinion.
no doubt, that show was a great one.
it really bothers me to see the fighters health not being more of an issue.
oh soooOOOoooOOOoooOOOooo many hugs and shit before a competitor steps off into the cage.
If u read GSP's new book in some of his early matches he won via TKO, KO, and submission. It was after he got established in UFC he seemed to win more via judge's decisions score card etc.
And yeah I remember the Greg Jackson comment "don't worry you have one eye". Yikes and I'm sitting here managing my tweaked ankle from tonight's session lol...
I'm kind of in the camp that GSP will finish when he has to. I noticed when jake started pushing the pace gsp stepped it up and rocked him. I get the feeling that GSP is as good as he has to be. I want to see him in there with diaz so bad. I am no GSP historian..but when is the last time he has been in there with a psycho that's going to try to execute him standing up?
GSP needs to lose his title, and has to face a deathrow of 170 pouders that he has to dispatch at the very least 2-3 of them per year in order to get a title shot again in a reasonable time frame. When that happens he will stop going for 5 round wars, and start going for the kill asap in each and everyfight, until he wins the title back. Then his defences will again be decisions.
