Eddie can u make that ure next project? Their isnt a book that im aware of thats strictly for that
Do you play around with it alot?, ive found that helps out alot!
nope i just wanna learn it! im still a noob to jiu jitsu
hellll yeahhhh
I've only seen the one triangle Eddie showed from Inv Guard on the MTS videos. I would love to see what else is possible and some ways to drill the postion. I mean how best to get into the postion. Seems hard without sleeeves :(
Caio Terra and Roberto Abreu have some really good inverted guard stuff, I would say that inverted guard is very tricky withou the gi though.
Yeah he has some really really innovative stuff, Cyborg always amazes me just because he is such a big dude and he rolls like someone half his size.
Ryan hall
Except he still does it in his black belt matches
its a good move, but at high level your gonna get smashed in I.G. your better off tricking and baiting
IG is important for guard recovery.
Watch Kayron Gracie vs Sergio Moraes from 2010 Pan.
Kayron's IG is what made it impossible for Sergio to pass.
Ryan Hall does recommend that the basics are where its at but to completely disregard the inverted guard is silly. Cobrinha is another inverted guard player.
Great fight example Budo Jake
i see EVERY POSITION, TRANSITION, AND SUBMISSION are very important to every part of the game.... im game to learn anything and everything
Well if hes good at it, y not? Doesnt matter if he doesnt use it
But if you dont use it and put in the reps, can you actually be good at it?
idk me and cookie were talking about this and he was telling me that their isnt a book that focuses mainly on it
and when i thought of books that mainly focus on a guard i thought of eddies rubber guard book
so thats why i asked, i never knew he didnt use it cuz i cant find to many vids of him in compeition online
but do you think any other whitebelts know wtf to do in that position? thats why i wanna learn the more advanced as well
depends on how conceptually they understand "the game" if they barely understand what BJJ is (i clearly remember mine back in 07) you could do the most basic submission and i had noclue what to do, in 4 years (07-11, but most of that was just watching/enjoying fights without going deeper than that and really understanding techniques and all that glorious stuff) i crammed like a MOFO like 6-10 years of juijitsu in like 1-2 years.
so if your just starting out, you have no need for IG eventually if you stick with it long enough youll learn how to use it and what it does its more a matter of commitment
Watch Braulio Estima run through ADCC 2009 with it. He inverted-triangled Andre Galvao, and almost got the same on Xande Ribeiro in the open weight finals, which led to Xande's injury and Braulio's gold. I can't use it very well myself, but apparently it can be effective against the highest levels of grappling.
