Are they worth it? They're mad expensive but I'm constantly finding myself watching eddie's videos or other instructionals and attempting to practice alone on my mats at home with little success. Do any of you guys use them on a regular basis? Do they actually provide an accurate imitation of a real person? (without the resistance of course)
Also, any recommendations as to where to purchase an inexpensive one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
The only one that I've ever seen that is truly life like minus the resistance is found @ www.dummiesunlimited.com... Granted that one is a little more pricy than all the others but there isn't another one as realistic on the market (believe me I've checked deep into it)... To me, it's worth the money!!! My honest opinion is that if you're gonna get a dummy, get that one or don't get a dummy at all... But that's just me..
To be honest, grappling dummies aren't really that great. Yeah, fair enough you can drill the move, but without any resistance it's not the best thing you can be doing. Also, they cost ridiculous amounts of money. Save up, find a friend, and drill on him :)
I force my friends to let me practice moves on them all the time but they aren't jiu jitsu practitioners so they just call me gay :(Quote:

The sex dummy is pretty hot, they'd be so much less trouble than a wife or girlfriend, the conversation would be better, Atm's would be as standard and your butterfly work would get awesomely sticky. I think you can learn a fair bit with the grappling dummy, obviously not ideal, but better than nothing.
Grappling dummies are quite easy to make, I made mine for around £40, it is poseable and is great for practicing the squeeze in all positions. my girlfriend just came down and read this and now has the sulks. That doll is looking more beautiful by the minute.

i been wanting to a get a grappling dummy for a long time now , its tough to find people willing to practice things , plus there are other technigues you want to try out in secret so when rolling you can suprise your fellow students on the mat , i will probably get one soon cause i want it to supplement my training i want to improve on some techniques i been sloppy with

Can you guys tell me what these cost? I don't want to have to fill in their forms to get a quote and, undoubtedly, reams of spam from them.
You can always call them man... I think the quote varies on where you live... I live in south Alabama (USA) & they quoted me like $740 something w/ shipping & everything.... I think it's worth it because I'm a night owl & when I'm not at the school training I'll be up til 4 or 5 in the morning thinking about techniques & having no one to drill with... At least then I could get some reps, practice my squeeze & develop one hell of a knee on belly... Not to mention I could probably exert enough energy to finally get to sleep... It's bad when you bridge & thread the needle to turn over from your left side to your right & even worse when you end up shrimping yourself back up into a comfortable position on you pillows... LoL..
The grapple man is not the best because his arms wont stay in a position they flop around and if you want something for striking get a Body Opponent Bag I have the Xl version and its awesome. The best Grappling Dummy is found at grapplingdummy.net the site Shelby brought up. This submission master grappling dummy would be the best for 10th planet reps. I also took time to find the best grapple dummy never bought one though decided to just look for more sparring partners. Its was to expensive to have it shipped to canada thats why I initially decided against it. Thats my opinion do what ever works best for you though.

I go through phases with mine, sometime not touching it for weeks. However, it has come in handy many times inwanted to work something out.
I found it best when i plan out a dummy workout on paper and commit to finishing the whole thing without deviation. Those have been some of my best solo workouts, otherwise i have found myself just staring at it and tinkering.
It has definitely helped my rubber guard game being that it is not trained at my school and i have developed it solely on my dummy and can now actually work it in live rolling. Had i not had a dummy i would have not been able to initially train the rubber guard.
