IBJJF/NAGA white belt 10th planet techniques

I train at Threshold Martial Arts which is located in Des Plaines, IL and run through Alliance. When open rolling I enjoy looking for ways to incorporate some 10th planet techniques into my arsenal as well but my instructors are not that familiar with the 10th planet system.

Specifically after performing the Twister Roll to the Truck. I have gotten to this position and finished opponents using the Twister or Calf Crank.

However under IBJJF/NAGA rules all neck cranks/spinal locks/leg locks (excluding straight ankle lock) are forbidden to white belts. I am looking for some submissions or sweeps coming off the Twister Roll that I will be able to use in competition.

Any help is appreciated

Take the back off the roll and rack up points first IMO

I've encoutered exactly the same issue, I'm getting everyone with calf cranks and twisters but it's not allowed for white belts (and blue belts too i think). Try banana split or crotch ripper from truck, they are usually allowed in tournaments. They don't work for me that well though, I never get them to tap. Personally I won't do the twister roll from side control in tourney until I can calf crank/twister. But I love to troll people with the truck when rolling, it's such an awesome position!

It's true you can get the crotch ripper or banana split but it's difficult to tap someone if they're really flexible. Like your not gonna tap Jean claude van damn with a fuckin banana split. Just trade that lock down for another hook and take his back. If your hitting the twister a lot this should be an easy transition for you.

Yeah like the first person said, take the back. Get your 4 pts then look to finish. If he tries to spin into your guard, mount him 4 more pts right there.

Just as John said! Take the back! It's a money move!

I wonder if you could get away with the wheelchair from the truck?

it's a twisting ankle lock...I doubt you'll get away with it in white belt division.

Take the back like John said. IMO its one of the safest bets from the twister roll. Not as flash as the twister but back points are huge.

The RNC is the ultimate sub. Take the back! Tap, snap or nap!

The faster you power your legs down to the mat on the roll, the faster he'll come around. So as you get better build your speed. It's one of my favorite ways to take the back.

For Blue/Purple Belts (same rules apply to both) it states "No Cervical Locks without a choke" so of course the Twister using an S-Grip on the side of the head is illegal, but I wonder if you attempted the Defcon 4 Twister where you are positioning your arms into a figure-four position (like a Rear Naked Choke) if they would permit it, because Cervical Locks with the choke are permitted.

this ^^^

and get used to throwing the choke in during the roll. you'll find that often your opponent will be surprised and disoriented during the roll, which will expose his neck for a split second. you can wait until you have his back to start looking for the choke, or you can snatch it up during the transition (which is where you will have to catch anybody good, anyway).

Aw, man. Twisters are illegal in NAGA? Well, poo.
