Gabby Bella - My exciting GQ match against a Pro MMA fighter - Vicious Sub [Video]

Hey guys...wanted to post this vid. of my match this weekend at Grapplers Quest. This girl was an absolute BEAST!!! Found out afterwards shes a pro mma fighter and a tiger schulmann black belt (assuming karate??). In any case...there were a few sketchy moments but I was able to pull out the sub. Props to the girl for NEVER tapping. I was told the fight was stopped for verbal submission (screaming) and injury.

Unfortunately I lost in the finals 3 adv. to 2 adv. so all of this was for nothing!! I watched the tape of the finals match and I'm still not sure how I lost. I thought i won and so did my coach and everyone in the crowd. Ill post the vid later and maybe you guys can help me figure out the scoring. I definately wasn't on my game, the time off really affected me (rusty). Next time I wont be leaving it up to the ref!!!!!

LOL. Not Gab's mom...just her dad's gf. Gab is my training partner though, she's a tough kid. :)

haven't been able to watch the whole vid yet and read all the pages....but WELCOME BACK!!!!!! Good job on pulling back the grades (I presume that's the case) and on getting ready in time.

I like the way Gabby setup up the rolling toehold with a generic straight ankle lock grip and then secured the toehold grip during the transition. People know how to defend an obvious straight ankle lock and I can't help but think that the grip put her opponent at ease only to be surprised by the toehold.

This kids a killer, the rolling toe hold was the icing on the cake.

Great job, and welcome back! Winning silver after a layoff is not a failure, even though I know we always fight for gold. Beating that girl is still a hell of an accomplishment.

When I walked out on the mat I could hear people laughing at me because she was so much bigger. My dad called me over and said 'She cant lift weights with her ankles, just find a way to get there.' It took me 3 1/2 minutes but I found it.

Thanks Eddie!!!! This was a toe hold I had been working on for a while. One of those ones that I have hit in class a few times but never got in a tourny. I drilled it a few months back before the last GQ with my dad and one of my instructors. Kevin Green from 10th Planet Bear also showed us a cool variation of this toe hold from the one knee up pass in a class last fall. SO big ups to my instructors for showing me the way!! Someone said it was also in MTS?? Which episode??
