Thanks guys!!! I really appreciate the positive feedback!!! I just had my ass kicked this past weekend at a small in house tournament. There weren't any females to fight, so I stepped up to the Men's div. They were just much more skilled and much stronger than I was...it was pretty frustrating to take home my first loss. I actually punched the mat and screamed, "I just lost to a dude!!!" Not very sportsmanship of me...
Then I went out to my car and cried. ;(
Being a smaller dude (5'5 145) i'm used to rolling with much bigger and stronger guys (170 and up) When i went and rolled with the 10P hartford guys, John told me what attracted him to the 10P system and it was the way Eddie works the half guard.
mastering your HG makes it extremely difficult for much stronger opponents to get an advantage. there are plenty of sweeps and other methods of gaining dominant positions with your HG as well as ways to get subs as I'm sure you are well aware of. One of my main strategies for rolling with bigger stronger guys is locking them down. I would recommend really drilling and working your HG game and seek out stronger opponents when you roll.
im sure there are some others who can add more about why its important to have a solid HG game or articulate it a bit better than i can.
I'm in the same boat Jason. I'm 5'8" and 149 so you and I would actually make perfect technique drilling partners weight and body type wise. I'm usually just getting SMASHED at my gym by the 165-190lb dudes, but like Keith Owen said, you gotta tap 10,000 times before your black belt.Quote:

It's true...she did go out to her car to cry. We thought she was going to get a gun....but it was just to cry. Whew!!
Unfortunately I will not be able to make it. I'm in Iraq for a few more months hopefully I'll see you guys around when I get back.
