Joe Rogan returning as 'Fear Factor' host

Joe Rogan is coming back to NBC's rebooted "Fear Factor," which could return to the air in the fall after a five-year hiatus.

Rogan's rehiring was first reported by TV Guide. Eight episodes of the stunt show will be shot, with two of them being two-hour specials.

"Fear Factor" executive producer Matt Kunitz has said the reboot will embrace technology in a way that the earlier incarnation was unable to.

"Fear Factor" premiered on the network in summer 2001 and ran for six cycles with Rogan overseeing a grim procession of gross-out contests. The series was pulled during its revamped sixth season in 2006 when it struggled in head-to-head competition with Fox's "American Idol." During its NBC run, "Fear Factor" averaged 11.5 million viewers.

This is off the freakin chain! I was in Hollywood last summer. I ran into the Skinner guy who won Americas got tallent. He was from my home town. So we were talking about Mayfield, and they were filming us. Afterwords the producer had me sign some stuff and picked my brain on what I liked and wanted to see on tv. I told him my all time favorite was Fear Factor, and they should do an Xtreme Fear Factor. Maybe with Professional stunt men/women, and make the stunts hella crazy. He loved the idea, but was worried about the increased danger... Anyway it is cool to see Fear Factor is coming back!

The worst thing on that show had to be the nasty, Japanese, half incubated, bird eggs. I almost threw up watching that. The food challenges had to be the hardest.

Those eggs are from Vietnam, keep the Japanese out of this! :D Japanese people like their food as fresh as possible, with a few exceptions, like Natto. (Fermented beans) lulz..

ney, they are called Balut. Mostly in South East Asia- but everywhere in the Philippines has them.
a few months before that episode of Fear Factor aired, i flew into the Philippines with the Air Force and paid (quite a bit by Philippino food standards) to have this crap. you dip it in vinegar and then put salt on it.
wasnt THAT bad...only when you get one with a beak thats started to develop is it too bad.
not saying id eat it everyday...but I definitely paid good money to eat the things people were gagging to eat on a show to win money.
ive had some HORRIBLE things throughout my travels...money brain soup/pudding, shark tail soup, iguana hearts, raw bunny eyes...

That is exactly right. It's an almost about to hatch bird egg. So you get to see the eyes, beak, feathers etc. It's supposed to be a delicacy. I think I was fed them when I was a little kid, but I couldn't even watch someone eat them now as an adult. That's the American palette for ya. Who here has tried balut?

No way, I will never knowingly eat one of those things. I watched Philippe Nover on TUF eat one and that was nasty. I cant wait for this show to be back on though!!

Mike, people who actually eat balut, LOVE it. They usually down two or three as a meal.
