As for the footage.. refs with little to no real grappling experience should be no where near any fucking cage on this planet. I couldn't think of a more dangerous recipe. As a grappler I've released chokes on stubborn opponents just as they went out because "shit felt weird"... that kind of tactile awareness can't be gained through kenpo or a love for MMA.

The Calgary Athletic Commission has stated that they are investigating the ref and this incident. I think they should of done some investgation of the ref prior to licensing him and then maybe there wouldn't be an incident to investigate.
