I've seen the fat guy in many videoes, he has that liver shot or body shot that drops people in one hit. If he was going to be at your gym I would go
He isn't hitting the liver, that is like a heart shot.
Looks to be some Fred Villari type BS to me, but who knows.....
Its amazing how attackers don't attack!
Bad enough George Dillman rips people off. Here's the Russian version.
I don't know if he's full of it or not, but a nice shot
to the chest that compresses the ribs properly
will put someone down pretty easily.
He's a big motherfucker though, those shots don't
look too weak. The Russian Spetsnaz are no joke either.
They probably have a trick or two that works really well, but somehow systema videos make me go; "Oh God.." And then I get a headache.. :( Too compliant.. It's a bit like watching the old batman show opening sometimes.
Military self defense is always funny, remember SAFTA? The head instructor was in UFC 2 I think.. My reaction was: "Oh God" back then too, then the headache..
It's not competition stuff, but ordinary people with no grappling skills tend to fall for all sorts of strange standing arm-locks and stuff.. I worked with a doorman that did traditional japanese jiu jitsu at one point in time, and he made defending himself look like a demo reel from some martial arts show, lol! :)
Yo John check this out. Val came and did some stuff at 10P Sherman a while back. I was there and got the feel some of his stuff and trust its no bullshit Val is a certified bad ass. I would love to have gotten to train with him but Mike never had him back. His is a really cool dude but very scary. You can tell that he has done the shit for real in life death situations.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-rJ5oZS2eIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAunUZD6yAs
whats happing is the guy is using good body linking technique to punch the solarplex of a guy that is tense because he knows he is going to get hit, so i personally would rather learn kick boxing and jujitsu. But also i live in Canada and you can go your whole life without someone pointing a gun at you.
I would definitely want to learn Systema. Like Stephen said the Spetsnaz are no joke
Val did some interesting stuff. Although, the knife disarms is essentially Aikido, looks impressive (but very hard to pull off in real life). And the guy holding the rifle purposely went so close to him, basically letting him grab it (nobody with any real training would get that close). If you look at many Systema and Krav Maga videos, they all showcase very similar disarms (with some idiot pointing the gun at you and coming so close so that you can grab them).
Like with any system, simply put it to the test. If it works on non-compliant opponents/training partners in a wide range of situations, keep it. If it doesn't, throw it out.
there are some elements to systema that I like, like the striking concepts. Fedor uses these techniques in his fights (think his heath herring GNP). there are some elements of it that I think are extremely stupid though.
no one ever walks at you with a knife like a fucking robot. the punching mechanics are cool. the firearm concepts are AWESOME, (youtube Systema Spetsnaz-Acrobatics). But I hate how systema has no concept of keeping your hands up when you spar.
then there is this stupidass bullshit

LOL Sounds like porno music, and yeah, that whole video was retarded.
Like Stephen said the Spetsnaz are no joke <----agreed.
an older guy at my first dojo gave private lessons for systema. From what i remember, it came from an old battle feild style with a short sword and small sheild. All blocks and attacks are swooping, as if the sword was in your hand. if you watch the first video again and imagine about a 2 or 3 foot blade in his hand while he punches you can see how it would be. it was pretty cool.
Just for shits and giggles:

I've got a psyops staff sgt in Nigeria that contacted me with that info. I honestly couldn't tell you but he says the old people point and run while calling him that. Perhaps it's a dialect or something lol.
seems pretty legit imo

Sorry fellas its bullshit. Spetnaz do not train Systema they train Sambo like everyone else in the Russian military. Like Aikido, Systema requires compliant and cooperative partners. Without live sparring at 100% its theoretical. It’s easy to elicit a cooperative response from training partners when you beat the shit out of them when they aren’t fighting back. This is a common trend among traditional martial arts & Dilliman/ki touch type training that doesn't have live sparring. They practice conditioned response by beating the hell out of their complaint partner. This concept is similar Pavlov's salivating dog, over time the instructor’s partners become conditioned and are reacting based on previous experiences.
But coach Zog, are you telling me that THIS ISN'T REAL?!!!

^What... the hell... was that...????
Could someone please, PLEASE, dub the "I Like to Move It-Move It" song from Madagascar over this?
People will put their trust in anything, regardless of how stupid. This goes for martial arts, religion, etc. Ridiculous.
yeah isaiah is wrong about that. fedor uses the Saaambo casting punch. like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JISgLclfX3c
he does use a systema style warmup though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXTufKH2zCY
