I wish I started so young, he's going to be bad dude in a few years.
And here is his first match a few weekends ago. He lost to a boy who outweighed him by 30 pounds and was 3 years older. That's a big disadvantage when you are 6 years old and weigh 49 pounds :)
Please take note of his very technical side control escape.

That's great! I love the concentration. But was there a pick at 30 seconds. HaHa
Aww yeah bro! Good stuff man. He'll be the future of jiu jitsu for sure. All of our children are. I'm currently piping in Mastering the Rubber Guard dvd to my wife's belly with head phones. Seriously.
That must be intense watching your kid compete. The size discrepancy made a big a big difference. He looked extremely calm considering it was his first tournament.
That smile at the end of the match was priceless. It tells me win or lose he's not quitting and his future looks bright in Jiu Jitsu.
You may want to look into the Gracie Bullyproof DVD set. It's done by Rener and Ryron Gracie and its really good. I do it with my 6 year old girl and we have a lot of fun with it. The Games disc is the best part of the DVD set. The techniques stuff is basically the same as Gracie Combatitives, but its taught very well and may or may not be worthwhile to you. I'm visiting LA next month so I put my daughter in Gracie Bullyproof camp beginning in August at the Torrance academy. I'll be training at 10th Planet HQ in the evenings. Should be a fun vacation for everyone except my wife....
Great suggestion, Ric. I do have the Bullyproof set and we love it. Those guys are fantastic teachers and have a great understanding of the big picture of jiu jitsu and its importance as an art.
Anyone with kids needs to own that set, for sure.
Have fun with your vacation!
awesome job, keep at it man. love seeing young ones getting into it. but im pretty sure i could still kick his ass...yeah, pretty sure.
Brandon where does your kid train?
I was so emotional that day I actually wept a little bit when Keller looked back and smiled. I'm such a wuss.
nice. so many fighters don't stand in base.
