Does anyone happen to know how much Marcelo trains in the gi vs. nogi?
my instructor told me that he still trains over 5 days a week in the gi and only once or twice without.

Kendall, do you have his x-guard book? The intro has some interesting information in it regarding his gi and no-gi training background (though it doesn't necessarily provide the answer you are looking for).
He says that he had only trained without a gi one time until he took a job teaching at Fabio Gurgel's academy. Said he didn't even know how to train without a gi. But it was so hot there in the academy (which didn't have air conditioning) that they trained exclusively without the gi.

You guys mentioned everything about the gi he says except for the fact that if you make a mistake in the gi, you pay dearly for it. No gi, is so much easier to get out of ad positions, unlike the super hero costume that might as well have handlebars everywhere

Maybe Ric can say what classes Marcelo does and doesn't teach but it looks like out of 30 classes a week, 20 are gi and 10 are no-gi.
I'm not making an official statement for the academy here, but to the best of my knowledge Marcelo teaches the 12:30, 6pm and 7pm classes every day. It amounts to a lot of classes.
