I know most of you guys do no gi but I figured you would be able to help me out. I am looking for a gi. I have yet to find one that will fit my size. I weigh around 320 pounds, have a 50 inch waist and stand around 5'7" tall. I assume alterations will be needed unless I have one specifically made for me (this sounds expensive and I can not afford to have one made) Has anyone altered a gi before, if so how did it hold up after the alterations?

I have a vulkan that I absolutely LOVE. I don't know for certain but it would seem that you could just buy the big size like A-5/A-6 and hem up the pant legs to fit. Also if you train regularly, especially in a gi but really either way, that waist size is gonna frikkin start dividing. You'll be in an A-2/A-3 soon enough sir just be consistent.
Looks like I need to go to the manufactures site and look up sizing charts, so far BayBoy is the only one I found that lists actual waist size's.

other then that ask the coach if you can roll in a gi top and fight shorts with leggings

U wud prob have to get a 6 and get the pants and sleeves done to your size
Just get em like triple stitched so they dont come undone on the end

Back to the fucking topic of helping someone out who asked a question. I have my first gi Mike. It was a 7 or 8 I beleive. It's nothing special...frayed, unbleached, quite ugly actually lol. I'd be more than happy to send it to you. Just let me know. I'm currently working on a gi exchange program for kids and adults here. Someone was right though, you will be in a smaller size in no time Sir!
