I'm curious what different techniques that you guys like to use to conserve energy while rolling. Are there specific positions that you try to get to where you are safe to rest and recover some wind before continuing? What do you guys do if you are absolutely gassed and still have a few minutes left in the roll? Usually I just gable grip their body and hold on for deal life while trying to breath calmly and deeply, but are there any tricks that you guys use to recover wind mid-roll? Thanks! :)
Work on your squeeze, grips, breathing and timing. Being able to stay tight all the time will drive your opponents crazy and they'll be the ones burning up energy and most likely leave some openings for you to capitalize on. That can be applied to every position. After that it will depend on YOUR game. Some people will chill when they pull guard, half guard etc... so it's hard to tell

I honestly try to stay in a conservative state most of the time. I only try to explode through transitions, grinding my way from one control position to the next. But that's only if things are going my way and I'm the one attacking. Otherwise, I'm defending at the tempo of my opponent and I'm at the whim of their cardio.
i do a little 'purge' where you inhale/exhale really hard and deep (hehe) it gives you a big oxygen boost. you might feel even more tired once youve used up that little boost than you did before though.
I prefer to sub my opponent.

But if you sub a guy after 1 minute and your rolling for 5 then you gotta go back at it for 4 more. The easiest way for me to conserve energy is get on top and smash them from side or knee on belly dance on them. So maybe pull half guard to old school to side control and just dance on them.

Relax, breathe and enjoy the roll. Try to get to positions you can rest in (Side control, half guard, mount, the truck) Take a breath, and use the clock if you need to. It all stems off control, the better the control you have the more relaxed you will be.

Lock in a triangle and just control their posture by cupping the crown of their head and breathe. I usually roll relaxed and don't get too excited, just be calm and flow.
Lift heavy at the gym, with little or no rest between sets.
I try and match my partner's speed and aggressiveness to the lowest common denominator.

Holding tight in a safe spot when on bottom, move extensively during the sweep, get on top, rest while on top, and then wait for a window to submit. Relaxed breathing the entire time.
A lot of people I roll with act like they're fighting for their life and are in a hurry or something. They exert themselves too much like they're in danger. I think their level of enjoyment is less as well. Sometimes I just lay under side control while they squirm all over top trying desperately to do something, they aren't quite sure what.
You can tell a lot about someone's game by their breathing.

interval training, try to "notice your breath" I can always tell if my oppenent is stressed when they breathe fast, pull tai chi breathing in to settle yourself.
