octopus guard neck crank?
Getting that arm up and over is half the battle. Either way, it looks cool though.
check out octopus guard dvd. The ways the dvd shows how to use it makes me just wait for people to give it to me, if im thinking about it.
I just remembered, im thinking about someone posturing up and punching to the head, you can duck under the punch and sneak back there
isnt that guy in guard and call it Twister???
uh....no
The more I watch this the dumber it gets the worst case scenario if you were dumb enough to get caught in this is you give up your back and fight from there its not even a submission!
I wonder how much money people got ripped off for to attend this "seminar"
how is two arms on one with a double wrist lock a strength vs strength game? I always thought that was technique over power. Gee, I wonder why nobody else ever thought to do a kimura that way?
Our core group down here at the Miami Hotbox has seen this and done some drills and played with it and it's legitimate if you can get your arm deep under their armpit. Yes, it is a battle and you have to know when to try for it but it does work in live rolling.;) If someone postures up in guard pretend to try for hip bump and get the arm under the armpit!
ok, again what is stopping the person from just giving up there back when you use both hands to go for the neck crank? If you could even get to that position. By the way this guy is a complete fraud.
Is this legit too?

We did our best to secure the positions and nothing is stopping the person in guard if that is what you are saying. Take the back instead of the twister, options! You cannot just grab the arm and put it over your head as he shows. It is a battle just like baseball bat.
Lol, I didn't say I supported this guy just that the position under the arm opens up options for working. If you don't like a tech. don't use it.
Tyler I have seen your comp videos and you Sr. are legit! But do your self a favor and abandon this non since.
Thank you
Tyler are you guys sitting up to duck under that arm? because breaking somebodies posture with that fake ass kimura is obviously not going to work.
We don't hit it often because we use RG from guard or sweep to the top, but when we do use it we fake the hip bump and go deep under hook on the arm and hug tight as we fall back. Probably only hit like 3 times in everyone's rolls total.
I wouldn't do that against somebody who plays 100%
Octopus guard.... I have found the best way to get to it is from half guard on bottom. When blocking the cross face passing there arm over yours while swimming the top arm threw and sitting up. It is really a fun tech to work.
What the hell Gary Goodridge knows sambo !
There are far better options for you to spend your time on.
Show Me!
Here let me give you an example of what I mean.

That wasn't the best example but thats what came up when I put in "The lost art of hooking" haha
I've seen Carlos compete before, and he's good. As for the legitimacy or plausibility of those techniques, it's not really my place to say either way.
But he was nice as hell when I met him. Didn't see him at this year's sambo comp, though.
