Self defense question.

Hi everybody I am new here I and just signed up. I am 17 years old and a BJJ white belt under in a Gracie Jiu Jitsu school in the Netherlands although I have always been inspired by the 10th planet system and it's functionality.

I had a question regarding self defense in the streets. What (in the streets or whatever scenario) You have a guy in your closed guard but he just lunges at your throat and digs his finger in your neck and throat with ALL his strength (in a way that you can't just simply remove his hands or even manipulate his fingers).

I was wondering this because always when I wrestle with my older brother he does this and sometimes I still manage to escape by putting my legs on his hips and pushing him away with all my leg strength. You might think I have my escape right there but this is my brother he is still kind of being kind to me. So I started thinking what if this drunken guy or somebody just filled with rage does this, what if somebody puts all his anger in this? Then I am probably fucked.

So I thought why not ask all you wicked geniuses. Of course I will also ask my teacher for some advise but I was wondering what you guys thought about this.

You can also put your legs over his shoulders and raise your hips. This has the effect of giving your opponent a double arm bar.

Alternately I think it should be possible to open your guard and move your hips away from your opponent. Then you could go to butterfly guard for a sweep.

If it's a drunken asshole trying to rip out your trachea, one up him by grabbing his head and put your thumbs in eyes, Seriously. Just saying, at that point it's not a sport anymore

Ear bites, lip bites, hair pulls, eye gouges galore. In the street it is run or "incapacitate" your opponent as fast as possible. Remember, his buddies will jump in asap with no questions asked regardless of who started the fight so you want to end it as quick as possible if you can't run from the initial attacker.

the jiujitsu answer is turn your hips to the side and go for an armbar or triangle but learn some muay thai and most drunk guys will fall like a sack of shit to your thai clinch, because when your having a good time and don't feel like geting dirty its good to know.

Son I'll tell you what to do right quick. You get so tore up you don't know where you are. then when a mother fucker pulls guard they are fucked. dont pull guard focus on leg kicks and over hand crosses. focus on eating good food. eating a rabbit live if you have too i men here we are just looking at things. have you thought about that? i do t evefvevvevn care anymore. be good and dont worry jus t bee good be good they may pull you over for weed but be good and tell them you aint got shit on you thats the best way son be good

I will practice both arm bar advises and the going ape shit and torment his face is a good one to for when it is serious. eating some live rabbit and standing and thai boxing is one I will have to try out some time soon, maybe i'll even drink some tiger blood.

After 20+ years of working the pubs and clubs as a Doorman, one piece of advice I can offer is I don't want to be on the ground with him and the possibility of his mates stomping and kicking me not to mention the bottles when they come flying in too :)

Alright man do that he is a great teacher.

Never pull guard in a fight. Only have him in your guard if you get thrown or he takes you down. Dont close your guard, just upkick him until he is off, and get on top.
If he grabs your trachaea punch his nose, or gouge his eyes.

Self defense is not pretty. In fact it's ugly and it's dirty. If a guy's doing that and you fear for your life, that's when you start going with ear drum claps and eye gouges and ear tears. Seriously, tear a dude's ear off. If that's too gruesome, ear drum pops are a nice way to stop someone in their tracks. But only pull that stuff off if you are legit scared for your life. Otherwise use your JJ to control the situation.

Don't do this to your brother, but IF you end up in guard, and the guy donates both his arms to your cause, the arm bar advice is great, and if the arms are straight a standard triangle works well. If your legs are flexible enough, you can go for the double arm bar.

What I personally normally do (and I dont advise it unless your throat is really stout!) is pick an arm and pull it towards me even stronger. My throat can handle a ton of pressure, so it doesnt bother me at all. It makes a nice "thumb lock" by hyperextending it. It's a great surprise move, but again unless you've conditioned your body for it I wouldn't advise it!
