Assassinating him is a double edged sword. If they do, it'll raise suspicion that everything he's saying is legit. If they don't, he'll keep telling the truth. The best they can do is run a smear campaign if they can catch him in any dirt. In the mean time, the media is being paid to ignore him.
Ron Paul 2012!
They've done such a good smear job on him I don't anticipate assassination ever being necessary.
I'm basically a strong supporter of socialized medical care and even I think his reasonable answer to Wolf Blitzer's "should we let him die?" question was completely taken out of context.
No need to assassinate... Votes are NOT counted. The Fed picks the figure head, and the figure head has no real power anyway.
reason i'm voting republican i've loved this guy
The president has no real power but if Ron Paul magically gets voted in all he would have to do is continue to tell the truth on tv. The real power is the people and if the people are shown the truth by the "president", revolution will follow IMO
or if it wasn't the electoral college that decided the presidency....
popular vote has been opposite of the results for 6/8 of the last elections
Well stated Eddie!
If only it was that easy. Perhaps you recall Eisenhower's final televised presidential warning... and look where we are now. Ron Paul may have some good ideas and as far as the right side goes he's my favorite guy. But don't forget he is still a conservative that believes in creationism doesn't support abortion etc. But I admit some of those are small issues compared to the bigger picture of overseas wars, the drug war, environment etc.
I think he would be better off doing a media show than being president. Besides all presidents get broken and I'd hate to see it happen to a nice old guy like him.
Let's not forget about Rand Paul who got elected as a senator in Kentucky. The media tried to smear him saying he kidnapped a woman in his college years and worshiped the "Aqua Buddah" The smear failed and he won the election and he has been injecting legitimate issues into Senate meetings.
The success of guys like Ron And his son Rand is this, people love their message and are forced to at the very least, pay lip service to the issues these guys bring to the table. Even if Ron loses his ideas win. Ron Paul FTW
Ron Paul. He's on my hero list.
now that i agree with.
people quit being cynical lazy fucks and go vote, it takes all of 15 minutes and maybe an evening of research time so even if it was all fake it's not asking for much. remember 215 (to legalize medical marijuana) in California was passed because people got off their stoned asses and checked a little box down at some school or church 10 minutes from their home (well that and lots of us campaigned for it).
it kills me when my housemate is sitting there smoking medical marijuana and telling me how voting is all bs and it never counts.
I agree that apathy is a huge problem. However, in 2008 over 100 MILLION people "voted" and the results were in a few hours after the polls closed? Give me a fucking break! There are not enough Chinamen with TI85's in the world to accomplish that feat. I agree with Eddie that what happened in Minnesota was an unbelievable expression of what can happen when the people stand together for a cause and make it so clear that no amount of media bias or camera trickery can hide it, but that was just one state. For Ron Paul to create that kind of buzz nation wide would take a lot more than what Ventura did, and the the money masters have had a lot more time to prepare for Paul.
to be fair, ventura was buttfucked by the fact that he was independent. republicans and democrats wouldn't do shit for him...he couldn't do anything in office...
folks. you're scratching the ron paul surface. it's a surface appealing for its honesty, particularly when it comes to american imperialism and the war on drugs. but please take a closer look. for example, if you're drunk and decide, fuck it, condoms are like eating with a sock on your tongue, and you bareback that shit and get a girl pregnant ron paul will first make sure your girl can't choose to get an abortion and then ensure that child hasn't a shot a decent education if you're not wealthy enough to afford it. and that's only one of the many dangers... it's lazy to get excited by a couple talking points. to expand the don't judge a book thing... blurbs on the back cover are great but open the book and read the motherfucker for god's sake. unless you're not into roads and stop signs and all the other things a libertarian government would remove.
What part of freedom of choice don't you understand. He wouldn't take away anyone's rights to do anything. And how the fuck do you think people got educated in this country before the department of education was around? http://www.freedomworks.org/blog/jbo...on-is-the-righ
The graph on that page says it all. And what in the world makes you think a libertarian govt would remove things like signs and roads? Would state govt do absolutely nothing? Are you saying that if given the powers of regulation that were originally intended for the states, that they would do nothing?
Ron Paul is legit. And he's unlegit. But is he too unlegit to quit, I don't think so. He has some good views and some fucked ones. With that said he crushes the other douche GOP canidates. Fuck you, Perry. Fuck you, Romney, And mother fuck you, Bachman.
Ron Paul Revolution!
I know its been posted on the forums before, but research a little on Joseph Bannister.

He has successfully not paid his taxes, and remains free. I on the other hand, don't have the required intelligence, or the pocketbook to hire the right people. I most certainly would be put in prison. Its possible, that's all I'm saying.

Take the poll: he's 1 percent above everybody! Yes I know this poll doesn't mean anything!
Long time lurker, first post.
Revolutions catch like wildfire, and I think Ron Paul could be a spark, but most of the US has been hosed down with high fructose corn syrup and 60" of HDTV 24/7. You don't really have to assassinate people anymore, you just make the population so apathetic that nothing ever really gains any traction. Until enough people lose all that comfort and relative safety, no revolution, soft or hard will take hold.
I'll still most likely vote for him, unless there is some dark horse of truth and justice out there preparing for a run at the White House. I hate to be overly pessimistic, but it feels like saying someone is the best candidate for president is like saying that one particular inmate is the most sane in a mental institution.
