^ Thats a picture of Maxime Dominique a blue belt at 10th Planet Montreal. He is also a decent striker and likes to shadow box before class to get warmed up. I call it the Jean Claude Van Dam.
Ya I like Black and White its kind of a part of The People's Champions brand. Here is my blog: http://thepeopleschamps.tumblr.com/
I also like the way it hides the identity of the fighters. You notice I used the black to hide the faces in many pics. I believe that a fight is a fight regardless of who is doing it (ammy or pro). I have pics of many UFC fighters or big name guys in and out of the ring. But I can get the same poetry of a fight out of the no name guys. A nice shot is a nice shot, and I take them and make them anonymous with the bnw. If I post a pic of GSP fighting or sparring you relate to him particularly. But if I post a pic of a fight where you have no preconceived notion of the individuals you will relate to the situation rather than the history. It a way to put you in the fight presently rather then observer a past fight.
That last sentence was all jacked up lol.
1) I would work on developing more of an obvious focal point (even if you don't have good lenses this can be done in Photoshop), and 2) I would cut back on the over-contrasting (in some of the photos).
Just my $0.02
Thanks Lee. The over contrasting is actually some peoples favorite ones. I like contrast up and brightness down. But thats just on certain shots. I'll definitely look for ways to find a balance in the style though. Thanks for the advice!
If you are using LightRoom, try experimenting with the blacks.
My advice would be for you to get off Flickr and move to 500 Pix (http://500px.com/) It's a much nicer place to showcase your work. Flickr is really ugly.
Is it wrong that I expected to see pics of Chael Sonnen in this thread?
Thanks Ric, i'll def make the switch
like some of the photos im not following on tumblr keep up the good work
