So frustrating!

budos stream contained a chat room and it was full of 10thpjj hate too.... :(
Haters gonna hate.
Also we all know that Gi training is superior even for No-Gi. I don't care who got how many medals. Renato choked out every single men woman and child competitor at No-Gi worlds, of course Gi training is superior. But you have to eat fruits & vegetables as well, that's the secret.
Fuck those guys they speak about thinks they dont understand....
Actually up to this point that thread isn't that bad. I can't blame them for their posts. There is some really good points pointed out why our results weren't that good. Anyway. Back to training... :)

I read the thread and they did bring up a good point about having a competition team. Everything else is the normal stuff you'd expect from someone trying to get a rise out of people.
I'm guessing the competition team will show you how to hold a person in side control or in half guard if one is up by points. As boring as that may sound, that produces 'winners'.
It sucked that they took my heel hooks and knee reaping away. That's a big part of grappling for me and I felt a bit handicapped.
No hate just hard cold facts.
Idk winning by points is ok i guess... i mean its still technically a win but that's not how i roll, i roll to sub. I roll to completely win with no doubt about who was better. I think that the train of thought u are going down may UNINTENTIONALLY cause stalling.
They're right. Next year, or the year after that. Who cares? Fact is, its an mma oriented system, tryin to succeed in a completely different rule set. There might have to be some focus on bein able to manipulate these rules properly, which is what the best are doin.
I will never stop believin in 10p tho. Cuz what if they can punch you in tha face?
^ will be DQed for punching someone in he face.
^ not in mma. Which is why I started trainin jj.
Can't really argue with the numbers, but 10p hasn't had the time the others schools have had. I personally think we will surpass them just because of heart, we believe in our system and want it more than they do, if they win its like cool, I won worlds, but if one of us wins its like we all won as a system, nthats what sets us apart and will carry us farther than them. Imhmo
I think 19 people got medals, if that's true then that's pretty f'ng good, not to mention at least 6 DQ's for BS rules.
I don't think the results invalidate the system, but I would like to know why guys who divide their time between gi and no-gi aren't having more difficulty against guys who devote themselves exclusively to no-gi.
That was a pretty balanced thread actually.
I mean i would expect something like this.....they were waiting for their chance to take a shot at 10th planet.....shows you how much they care about us....they watch our every move!.... This is why im so down for the system...love being the underdog...cant wait for next year
So on the last page they call out Midwestern 10th planet guys...i think im going to make a Sherdog account!
blue/purple - only straight ankle lock is allowed. all other leg attacks are illegal.
brown/black - straight ankle, kneebar, toehold, calf crank, and i think banana split/crotch ripper/electric chair are allowed.
no heel hooks (or knee reaping) are allowed from blue-black. period.
Perhaps I post this response in your other thread, but it fits nicely in this one too.
If the rules in this no-gi tournament allow competitors to stall when they are up on points, why would you assume that when competitors use this tactic it is necessarily carryover from gi tournaments. It doesn't seem like it matters whether competitors are trained in the gi or not - if they can win by advantages or points and will not be penalized for stalling, I don't see what them training in the gi (or not) has to do with it.

I remember reading here (hearsay) that Francesco Mansyur was asked if the move was illegal and after seeing it he reluctantly said their are no rules against hip/groin stretches.
The move is so obscure that people who have been around for years don't even think about it, but when a head ref was asked it was deemed legal. You can't just disqualify people if you don't know what it is, and their are plenty of legal moves that put pressure on the knee anyway.
There shouldn't be any complaints made about the rules. If you compete in an event you should study the rules. If you don't like the rules then do not compete. Its very simple. People who choose to compete should have a desire to win and win bad. That desire should motivate them to train very very hard. Training includes learning to utilize the rules. You can utilize the rules and still have exciting submissions or attempts without compromising position.
Thanks for pointing that out.Quote:

I agree. If you sign on the dotted line, show up to the rules meeting, ask alot of questions. I annoy the fuck out of them cause I ask about everything. Slicers, hip manipulation, cranks, hooks. Some places unders ibjj rules allow hip attacks as long as the knee and back are not attacked. It really depends on the individual ref.
What im sayin is, how they choose to score it, really takes away alot of what I love about jj. Two dudes tryin to kill eachother without strikes. I am a much bigger fan of alternative scoring systems. Naga's is pretty good. Anything that is gonna give more weight to sub attempts along with positional advancement. Regardless of the rules you prefer, its their tourney.
Would your overall jj style change from trying to excel in certain tourneys? Or if your that good do you only need to make strategic adjustments? Do any of y'all think it could inhibit your mma jj by focusing on tourney jj?
