wow....wtf can you do at BJJ world's? jesus.....NAGA is so much better. All subs legal......PERIOD.
this sucks...
thats just pathetic...this tournament is a joke. the ref actually seems happy to raise the other guys hand. I saw a ton of dqs at pan ams but Im starting to believe there was clear bias after seeing some of these matches.
Eye poke. Its the only way...
I just don't understand why they don't give our warning... every other tournament does that. Straight DQ is ridiculous, some mistakes happen, you should get warned, reset and move on.
My goal is to go to the NoGi Worlds one day and also get DQ'd. :)
that electric chair dq was a justified call by the ref. the only leg lock allowed in the blue belt division is the straight ankle. it's in the rule book on ibjjf.org .
This thread was not intended as a complaint, at HQ we specifically trained to use the electric chair as a sweep only. This DQ was def legit, but legal or not, electric chairs are always cool to see in comp :)
No gi worlds are IBJJF. It's traditional BJJ rules without the gi. NAGA is a grappling tourney. That means any style of grappling is acceptable (judo, sambo, 10thP, BJJ, wrestling, catch). 10th is def not geared toward IBJJF rules. It can be done, but it's kind of restrictive.
LOL'd
does that make the banana split illegal too?
I have seen most of the videos posted from Worlds and the DQ's don't seem fair to me. I might be a little bias. The rules should be clear... Reglardless. Everyone who competed deserves big appreciation for going out and putting it all on the line. Im proud to wear/rep 10th Planet. ;)
I'm still trying to figure out what match I should have been watching.
Yes & No! Yes, a 10th planet practitioner will have to give up on some techniques. But...
I believe a 10th Planet practitioner has a BIG ADVANTAGE using IBJJF rules! Its how you look at it. Since 10th Planet is based on a clinching style of grappling especially, RUBBER GUARD and stalling is big factor in this Tournament. Its made perfect for the rules of IBJJF. After watching Mike Dewitt, BS match & reading a post from Scott Ross(I think it was him) it became clear how to win match's using 10thpjj with their rules, in your favor.
If you lock up someone in 50/50 or rubber guard, crackhead or double bagger (the key is your on bottom) and they can't get out. Your going to get the stalling points. So if you have a great Rubber Guard. You can use 10thpjj to manipulate their rules.
I know everyone is going to say I don't want to win that way. But 10thpjj does have some advantage in their rules. If your ahead in points & 2 mins. left...stalling in rg is a nice option.
