Best way to handle people who give us a bad name?

We all have our frustrations, all see the stupidity that creates a black eye for 10PJJ, hear the talk, see the posts and watch it unfold in front of us.

Personally, I dislike it when someone is aggressive with the system. Have pride, YES, but also have TACT. Over-agressive behavior on either side of the convo turns a great argument into an emotional rant.
People see posts and make assumptions, misread them or things are said (typed) that are taken the "wrong way"

What's the best way to deal with it?
I'm not saying that we POLICE everything we say, but a common disclaimer could be a great thing to interject into a convo/thread/post to stop further problems.

Something like "...If you would like to see view on this subject from OTHER students of the 10th Planet system, PLEASE see http://www.10thplanetjj.com/forums/2-Nibiru-Forum . Everyone has different the views of how we see things at 10PJJ. That's why we rock. See for yourself" ...or something like that.

What other ways would you deal with these "problems"?

I know, I don't go back and forth on who or what system is better. BUT, I do correct idiots when they (for example) say Denny hasn't won anything or Eddie hasn't done anything for jitz. When I do this I do Not get into back & forth with them. But I state the facts...and I make sure those facts are correct and aren't opinions! Then I walk away. I know I will never change the mind of a hater. But if you state real facts most of the other people can see thru the ignorant douchebags posts.

Yea, just stick to facts and stay away from the "who's better" argument. I mean I usually wont even get on the subject if I know they dislike 10p. Although recently someone told me Eddie took credit for making up the Peruvian necktie, so he was corrected :)

I train in that Japanese super hero costume part time, and I like it.

I've rarely seen 10th Planet practitioners that actually train at HQ, an affiliate or an official Hotbox be disrespectful when supporting 10th Planet. Those that do act a fool will not be representing the system for long. Do not represent us in a negative light, as we will not have your back, that’s not how 10 do.

Jack hit the nail on the head, it’s ok to defend the system just do so respectfully, and do so with facts "Eddie Bravo steals moves, changes the name and claims he invented them". Just let them know that Eddie always gives credit to where its due, they would see that if they actually read his books, invite them to the forum to check out the awesome community here.
If you see someone "defending" the system by acting like an ass, let Eddie or one of the affiliate instructors know so we can do damage control. Or give a respectful counter post, stating that’s not how we like to represent the system.

Sometimes fanboys get the idea they are an actual representatives of the system. It’s the same with professional sports. How many times have you heard arm chair quaterbacks say "We're going all the way to the Superbowl", "We should be running the ball more", etc. It’s just part of the game, we'll smooth it out as we go along, don't let it heat you up and respond with something foolish and impulsive out of anger.

Someone tries to tell me the system is not legit, is like telling me to wear shorts instead of pants. I'll wear pants when i need to wear pants, and shorts when I feel like wearing shorts. Both have great uses, I might prefer one over the other at times, but I'm not gonna be closed minded and say I only wear shorts.
Then even if I choose to wear pants, there's jeans, slacks, sweats... All have their pluses and minuses, but I won't know about them until I experience them myself.

So what you're saying is that you have an excellent fashion sense for a straight guy?

The cool thing about it though, is that the highest level guys I've talked with: Gokor, Marcel Lauzado, John Ouano, all respect Eddie and the System.

10th planet is a system, not a guard, and as with any system you have to understand it or get left behind. It's when the other high level guys give their opinions about 10th and Eddie, that I don't understand. People are to look up to those guys and they aren't even respecting the progressive nature of other jiu jitsu systems.

I'll guarantee though, that if you sat down man to man with some of those guys, they will tell you they respect the system. In front of their peers or a camera, you may get otherwise.

If I heard someone put down another system and say 10th is the best? I hope I don't run into any 10th pl guys with this mentality. I'll try to keep it PC and just remind them that 10th planet jj is like a buffet...you pick and choose what you like and make your own meal. Others might not like your entre but you happen to love it. Fuck it, you paid for the meal, eat what you want and scrap what you don't. But the techs that you eat, make sure you know why you like them, because that will begin to shape your palette.
