Bulgarian 10th Planet star Borislav "Bobbi" Kirilov takes the gold (4 SUBS/VIDEO)
-
sweeet!! everything was sooo smooth! what did he get the last tap with though? I can't really tell from the angle
-
That's some good jiu jitsu right there. What was the submission from guard in the 75kg Final?
-
-
looks like you need a tougher division. muthafuckin boss subs.

Hi there Guys! It is actually a very tricky and nasty americana, that works very good especially vs bigger opponents. After you have threatened a bit with climbing high for rubber/triangle/armbar and have good control with your legs over his upper body you can start setting up a triangle on one side. Then according to his response there is a possibility to feed his wrist to your arm on the opposite side that is actually placed across his neck and then simply lock the figure 4. It ressembles an "improper americana" from side where the opponent has his head inside your figure 4 and thus defends the submission. Unfortunately for him, from guard with high legs and good control you are actually blocking his shoulder and the pressure is much stronger which normally forces a very fast tap, depending on the shoulder flexibility of the opponent.

Damn! Great work Bobi, smooth as hell - you can see the confidence oosing out of every pore! Agree with Michael, you definitely need tougher competition now to take you to the next level. I will be doing my best to learn from and emulate your technique. Merry Christmas Bro

The brother´s Bobbi and Vladi has been with me a few years now and are Improving like crazy! their academy growing bigger and bigger for everyday. I call them my Bulgarian Lions, I havent seen so many potential superstars in one academy before:-)
The only bad thing is that both bro´s are at the same weight cat 75, like the Mendes bro´s.

For ChriFSMas, I'd love a video of you demonstrating this sweet "Pseudo-Cana?" or perhaps "Rubber-Cana" Americana setup and finish.

Vid of steps?

I'm new to the sport and I just started @ Bobi and Vladi's hotbox, here in Sofia. I could say they've pushed my fan curiosity to a true love in BJJ just in a few training sessions! And it's pretty obvious why, just watch the submission monster on these vids ;)
-
Wow, those matches are so much fun to watch. That was total domination!
+1 - I want to see that video breakdown too!
-
We shot it! expect it very soon.
Also we manage to find another position from which you can set this amerikana. It become so interesting for a lot of people so our teammates called it "BORIKANA" now (hihi). (my name + amerikana). and dont get me wrong, we've just never seen some one doing it, so if you know it dont be angry its just a way to recognize the submission in our gym :)) OSSs
-
Dude that was some slick shit. I'll learn personally from your matches and I hope you make them step-by-step vids soon.
Get yourself out there man, you're a killer.
-
Hey guys, here is the footage for the "secret" submission from one of the previous tournament videos and the one everybody was asking for. I hope everything is clear now :)))

Awesome Video, with an easy explanation! :)
-
Thanks for posting the breakdown - I'm going to work for this tonight :-)

Try it and give feedback how you find it!

How much does your opponent's flexibility come into play? I tried this submission last night but wasn't able to get the tap.
The guy I had locked up with this is pretty flexible & while it caused some discomfort - I could not push the wrist hard enough to get him to tap.
After re-watching the video I think maybe I wasn't angled off to the side enough in the guard position. I'm going to try again tomorrow but if you have any tips please share if you think it might help me. Thanks!

If you are trying to get it on somebody who is EXTREMELY flexible is gonna be hard like you are doing any joint lock to such guys (it is very hard both to get it and second to finish it). Do it several times as a basic submission drill to feel the position and the technique, and try it not only from rubber guard , pyramid setup to triangle is also a good way! And as you mentioned - the angle is the most important thing - switch the hips as much as posible.
