watched it on the live stream in the wee hours of the morning. It was a great match. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for this. :)
Moura... BJJ legend. Hall... Incredible talent.
such a good match
There's a misconception with this match that's pretty interesting actually. Most people assumed that Robson won the match from a pass. He didn't. In ADCC as most of you know, there are no points for the 1st 5 minutes. From about 5:30-6:00 Ryan and Robson are both in a double guard situation, and Ryan was either unaware that once points started, if one person simply comes up, that counts as 2 points for a sweep or knew that and just wasn't aware points started. Anyways, Robson simply came up and got 2. Near the end, Ryan goes for the shot and Robson attempts a pass and back-take and the match ends in transition. Here's Ryan taking about the match plus some Ryan Hall seminar/interview and rolling footage with some cool chokes and leglocks.

Here's Jeff Glover talking about his match against Cobrinha and his match agains Robson to get the Bronze. Glover had a great showing, defeating Tom Barlow (6-0), Marko Ramos (Darce choke), lost to Cobrinha on points, and finally beating Robson Moura for the Bronze (Guillotine choke)

Great pass and back attack at the end :)
Even though he didn't get points for that (see post #6) just curious Eddie, did you get a chance to see any of Robson's other ADCC matches this year? He had some great guard work, passing, and some close flying triangles and Marcelotines. I hadn't seen him do NO GI in a while. Great stuff! If you get a chance to check out the ADCC 2011 DVDs (all HD), they're great! I know you're really busy, but the 66k and 77k divisions especially were nuts as usual!
Um, it's about half and half. Like each mat (there were 3 mats that weekend) has 2 or 3 cameras filming. They edit each match so that you get different camera angles on each match. For example, in the Marcelo/Victor Estima match, they had one angle of Marcelo getting the guillotine from butterfly and finishing it. On the DVD, you see the same angle as the broadcast for the set up, then it switches to a camera angle right up against their faces so you can see Victor struggling and then tapping out.
Same with the Mendes/Rader match. You see the normal camera angle when he sinks the RNC, then it switches so you can see the grips up close and their faces. Stuff like that.
Overall it's better, because you can see all of each match in HD from better camera angles, but there is no commentary except on the Absolute Final and the Superfights, which kind of sucks. But there were a lot of good matches the broadcast didn't show so I think it's a solid purchase.
If you can watch the Replay for free and don't care about some matches starting late (Marcelo/Victor) or ending short...or the unaired matches with people like Jeff Glover, Murilo Santana, Justin Rader, and Rafael Lovato Jr for example, then maybe you may no want it.
Does that help?
Was that Marcelo shaking his hand at the very end there?
Yes. Marcelo Garcia is Ryan Hall's teacher/coach and he cornered all of Hall's matches at ADCC. Hall competes under Marcelo Garcia now, hence the MGinaction shorts and rash guard.
If you go on MGinaction.com you can see at least 20 or so rolling sessions between Garcia and Hall.
Anyone got a link to Glover / Robson ??
man i was up so early to catch that match. that division was insane this year, would have been the best ever if eddie's superfight didn't fall through (and denny didn't get injured).
i was also super happy that robson came back to compete. he looked awesome considering he hasn't competed in quite a while.
the final match was fucking WICKED just like 2009. though it was unfortunate that there was a bit of a misunderstanding regarding the points by the end. i was stoked for another overtime between them.
That was probably the worst thumbnail for a video clip that I've ever seen. Great video though.
I don't have one but skip to 2:41 for the Guillotine Glover snatched.

I agree. I still think 2009 was my favorite year for the 66k weight class. You had the 40 minute Mendes/Cobrinha final that is a top 3 ADCC match of all time. Mendes and Cobrinha both had all subs on their way to the Finals. Cobrinha broke Yahya's arm and Mendes choked out one of his mentors in Vieira.
The Jeff Glover/Rani Yahya and Ryan Hall/Leo Vieira matches were both so entertaining. The drama of Yahya and Vieira being hurt with Glover and Hall stepping in their places to fight for the Bronze...that match right there was bad ass too. Trading back attacks, darce chokes, crazy sweep attempts, that match had it all.
the 66 finals this year was good, but it had a lot of hype behind it (with everyone basically knowing Cobrinha and Mendes were on a collision course) and after last time, it was just slightly less exciting to me.
Awesome highlight :)
I love watching Robson's leg lock defense. He's very controlled and he doesn't just gator roll spaz.
Budovideos finna have this link snatched down within 3 hours I bet. The guy that made these had them unlisted for a reason. I'm willing to bet hell be less likely to rip more matches in the future knowing theyll be posted and taken down right away. No hate, you're just helping someone that asked. Just saying tho...
