Invisible Collar Question

What's up team! Got a question about this technique. So I've tried this several times, although it's one of the more difficult positions / submissions to pull off for me but what do you think about this.

So i start everything off by breaking him down, get to mission control, zombie if i have to n trap the arm, transition to the IC, so the move sorta fails, he's not tapping, the guy is just holding on, i could transition to an arm bar (invisible croc, etc.) but instead just strong leg curls straight out, both of his arms are trapped to the side of his head, for some reason i can't reach around and s-grip my hands like u would in a tepee, so i push down the head again squeezing hard with leg curls.

tell me what u guys think..

The invisible collar is off of the "chill dog" position not off of mission control. Crossing your legs at mission control is just "crack head control" and it is not a submission.

Or am I misunderstanding your break down?

Yea it sounds like you're describing crack head control because you never cleared the neck to get to chill dog, and i'm assuming you can't get a tepee because the shoulder isn't cleared.

Even in the invisible collar some guys are hard to tap from. Especially smaller guys. And it does sound like you're talking about crackhead control unless you left a step out.

sorry, my terminology was off, (sorry about the confusion) but the move is purely off invisible collar. Say your opponent is zombie'd and in the invisible collar, i slip my right arm out from the collar and leg curl hard, his left arm or hand is on my chest, when i leg curl hard he's caught no? (both arms in, push down on the head an squeeze with the legs hard it seemed instantaneous.)

Correct me if I'm wrong: I believe he's asking "If I'm doing the invisible collar, if I just pull the arm out, leg curl so he can't escape, and S-grip behind my legs, aren't I doing a Teepee and isn't he done?"

The invisble collar variation is good to tap smaller guys. Its in mastering the rubber guard book and dvd. I find my self square on in ic any tips on how to get a bit off centre to make the ic more effective.

I love the Invisible Collar. I have really long legs so I find I can slap it on just about anybody and I've even tapped some of the smallest guys at the gym with it. The key I have found is your angle and using your right arm. I usually go to IC from double bagger. After clearing the head make sure your right arm is framing strongly against his collar bone and you're wrist is at your ankle. That's key to keeping him in position and you're going to use it to finish the technique. If you have the flexibility to double bag, reach around your left knee and help your right leg stay tight while you bring your right ankle over your left. When your right leg comes around it should push his left arm across your chest a bit. That takes away his ability to frame with that arm and it sets up the croc. When you bring your right leg up, turn so you're about halfway on your right side. That takes away some of his ability to posture up because it puts him more on his side than squared up on his knees.

Once your ankles are crossed and you're in position you're gonna use both legs and both arms to finish. When you squeeze, don't just squeeze down; squeeze down AND squeeze your knees together. While you're doing both, pull down with your right arm and drive your right elbow down and into his collar bone (towards your hips). You should be able to reach across and grab your right ankle with your left hand (reach around your left knee so you're still hugging that tight). Use that to pull your right leg across even tighter while you squeeze down and in. If you're flexible enough to be able to grab your right ankle for the "small guy" variation do it. It makes the squeeze 10 times tighter and if you don't have enough squeeze left to finish it's no prob. He isn't going ANYWHERE until you decide to let him.

if your in Ic and you pull your forearm out you have what is called CLOSED GUARD and to my knowledge that has never submited anybody in the history of jiu jitsu.

If you're pulling your right arm out, you're not in IC anymore. That right arm is critical to the IC submission. Without the pressure on the neck and collarbone you don't have a submission and the right arm assists the squeeze. The only time you'd take your arm out is when you're transitioning to something else because he didn't tap from the IC (e.g. East Coast croc, Jellyfish, etc.).

So am I a dick for chuckling heartily when I read that?

thanks 4 everyone's feedback, i only got to experiment with it a few times and one cat said he couldn't speak cause it was so tight. I flow through the original MRG book and DVD like it's gospel, and experiment with different shit now an again. I'm like an infant again just learning the proper way to speak, and look to you guys for guidance! Especially without proper instruction. :o)

I'm gonna need to see video :)
