How do you embed? Eeh, I tried.
LOL oh man thats funny
he seemed mad about it
8.00 min mark!!!
That is hilarious. It seemed like he got pissed for a second and then decided to lighten up. It's pretty funny that Jiu Jitsu fans and top level players like Caio are starting to know about Renato...
Thats funny.
When he talks about fitness and getting in shape he sounds ignorant. He deosnt think that running and lifting is needed for getting in shape for jiu jitsu? That is weird and not a universal tip.
Also, did I hear him say "Terra guard"? Is he naming moves? Didn't he give Eddie shit, saying he was naming moves?
He seemed to be more of a pawn for Dan Black but yeah, he took a cute jab at Eddie here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NnZzlTAQZY
Yeah he calls half guard where you block the hip with the outside knee terra guard. Alot of guys play it but to each is own I guess.
Trained with him twice. He basically plays a 93 guard with his feet crossed. Maybe I didn't explain it right.
Not sure if it had a name. Sean B was out here and taught a weeks worth of stuff from what he called 93 guard. Then Caio came out and taught "Terra Guard" which seemed just like the 93 but with feet crossed. So who knows. Maybe I am wrong.Quote:

Ok ill explain Terra Guard best i can.
Your opponent is standing (or kneeling with one leg up).
You are on the right sidish of your body and your right leg is hooking the right leg of your opponent.
You reach your right arm underneath your right leg (not over your thigh under your thigh as well) but in front of their right leg and grab your shin (rubber guard style).
You keep your left leg far away from them and you use your left arm across their chest throat to maintain distance.
Your left leg is not entangled with their body at all.
This is my understanding. There may be some misinterpretations (on your part) or some missing parts in my explanation (my bad) as i am new to Terra guard.
If i can remember right, caio told once that he started doing the "terra guard" when he was around a blue belt or so and he hadn't seen anyone else doing it so people started calling it Terra's guard and it kinda stuck and thats how he taught it, but caio was hopped up on 2 tubs of hagen daz so i might have interpreted part of the story wrong lol
On a side note, Caio also just posted a video on his facebook that mentions Renato near the end, I just assumed it was the same one as this until I watched it...

Also, guys from Springfield will recognize the photo of all the Naga medals, belts and swords at 9:17
Renato vs Caio super fight!
I kind of like what Caio has to say about strength and conditioning training. I think if your only training goal is to get better at jiu-jitsu, then any time you are doing squats or push ups you aren't making the most of your time. If you want to increase stamina and strength for jiu-jitsu related purposes, then do exercises that have the added benefit of increasing muscle memory for specific moves. For example, if I just wanted to work on my abs I might do leg raises, but if I wanted jiu-jitsu abs, I'd do as many triangles as I could for 3 minutes. The first one isn't a waste of time by any means, but the second one is jiu-jitsu specific, and therefore more desirable if you're only working out to improve your jiu-jitsu game.
Actually a decent interview. Such a good competitor
