yea, never heard it called that before tho lol.
I teach a number of kneebars from 1/2 guard, never heard of a Dogbar.
Half guard top or bottom? I know 2 no hand knee bars from top but don't know any from the bottom. Never heard it called a dogbar though. I usually hit the top kneebar off of electric chair sweep.
From top. Bloodyelbow.com had videos from the European JJ championship and a guy finished with it. They call it a dogbar. Any names I can search? Or how to videos you can post?
link?

This should take you to the article. It's the third video I believe.
Ok, thats a standard reverse knee bar. Its pretty common in Sambo, there are some cool variations of it. That same one can be used from underneath as well. Sarkis one of my heavyweights is a master at that reverse knee bar and has crush tons of dude with it. I know Igor Yamkimov teaches it on his Ultimate Leg Lock series.
Sneaky sneaky.
Thank you.Quote:

Jamie (the guy who owns our gym) uses that sometimes. I've been caught in it. It sucks. He learned it from Carlos Machado, but we've never had a name for it. Just call it "that kneebar thing."
In the "rolled up" episode with Einstein he works a similar concept from twister side control, getting a knee bar with no hands.
Learned this last night!
Hey guys, I think they call it the dogbar because over here in U.K a sneaky/snidey technique that comes from nowhere and hurts like a bitch is referred to as a "dog shagging" technique. Wrist locks on training partners kinda comes under this as well.
Even though they are legit moves and are valuable tools in the box, they still come under "the dark side" of jiu jitsu for some reason.
Oli Geddes (guy in video) is smashing with this in comps at the moment. Seen him use it a few times
My mistake, just seen a post explaining that its because you look like a dog humping the leg that you are knee barring.
Makes more sense.
