Nice, I'm going to try workin that in this week.
Honestly, I do this often. I got a general rule that if its possible to triangle around their shoulders, triangle. If you completely dominate the arm on the kick, I test this. If not, proceed to croc.
To bad hubber guard doesnt work and i totally wont use this
Will try it out.
yeah... I'm calling it the Orchard... cuz he jocks with it

This is a nice variation. This is Preston Bludworth and he is a friend of mine, loyal to 10th planet like you wouldn't believe and a blue belt under me (he lives in Montana). I tested him earlier this year.
He is 6'5'' and about 210lbs so his extra length really gives him some neat variations for those long limbs.
Worth keeping an eye on Preston. 210lbers who play rubber guard are a rarity.
Is it just me or are ectomorph body types gradually taking control of the game?? :)
I've used it a couple of times rolling. My only question is why doesnt the other guy have a shirt on?
Testing the effectiveness for rubber guard in MMA? I dont know.
It certainly wouldnt have killed him to throw a top on to do the video.
But none of the ladies will be complaining.
So, is it better to slide your right leg up to collect the arm than swing it up (1:20)?
I've locked the triangle on the shoulders before but it was more in a transition. I never thought about figuring out a setup to purposely lock it in. Very effective move.
I've been using something similar (2 arms in triangle) to set up armbars for a quite a while now. It offers an incredible amount of control.
We stumbled upon this too. Here is a vid. gab hitting it live in competition at the pan ams this year:

Similar, I've use it off of mission control. I also use it off "Locking the Shoulder" entry to the spider web toss. If I'm having a hard time turning 90 degrees to my partner and they aren't turning the corner to stack, I switch the the 2 arm in triangle and lift the hips to finish the arm bar. I also use alot of reverse (or backward triagles)triangles as well, due to my bad hip, I do all right sided triangles regardless of the entry, so triangles with two arms in to attack the arm have been pretty common for me. Preston actually sent me this video a few months ago and asked me what I thought. I'm paraphrasing but I remember telling him its a solid technique, something we use, but didn't find it as something new as a concept.
Oooo I would love to hit that mounted (...giggity)
Chris hit it. Locking the shoulder is the key principle in all of this i think. And probly how most people stumble upon it. Lock the shoulder, then you have choices on how to finish.
i like it. awesome.
It's totally legit Travis Magalit hit that back it 2009 at Grapplers Quest

Thanks for the love sir!
He was training some MMA stuff with a different group and I stole him to make the video. Contrast is something that is good when making videos so that you can tell which limb belongs to which guy so it made sense to me lol.
looks legit will try it out. reminds me of the flower sweep where you gotta push the guys shoulder in for a high guard with the option to the armbar.
I hit this more than the east coast croc but what Preston's perspective did for me (he's explained it before) was to focus on the squeezing aspects of this variation. You do have to clinch down like a triangle in order to keep the shoulder isolated and to retain the arm bar.
Awesome variation... I had a chance to roll with both of these guys, when they visited the school I train at... they are cool dudes with some excellent skills.
