10th Planet at NAGA Atlanta on 2-11-12

I feel like we made a pretty decent representation. Brought home 4 golds. Several Silvers. Heck, I even got myself a bronze medal in a 3 man division :)

Scott Phillips from the Mobile Hotbox represented in style. He was in a 17 man division. 4 matches. 3 subs and a point loss. He looked awesome.

And my guy Sam Davis looked great in the Teens Expert Division, as well.

Me and Bobby Rivers both fought in the Expert Division. Bobby had a guy's arm basically snapped and thought better of it, and that compassion cost him a W. Lesson learned.

I had to fight well outside my weight class against a Brown Belt (I believe he was from Alliance). No excuses; I lost on points (4-0). But I don't feel like I embarrassed myself or anything. Lesson learned. I did learn not to stop even though they call time; dude almost ripped my leg off when he jumped on a knee bar after the time had expired. I was disappointed that I didn't come up with a highlight reel win for you guys. But there will be plenty more opportunities this year :)

Yeah Brandon, you drew a monster. Guy was extremely strong and knew exactly what to do with it. The level of competition that's in expert is pretty legit... I'll be sticking to intermediate for a bit, not to mention there wasn't anyone to roll in my weight class in expert apparently.

Ive got the vid comin. This brings up a debate I thought I had already answered. I told myself I would never not snap in comp agan. I choked. This guy apparently had huge ego issues goin on a full fledged roid tantrum later in the tourney. The problem is I tend to look at everybody as friends first. Never again. This post is my vow, that if someone disrespects me by not tapping on a legitimately compromised limb again, Im sending him to the ER.

Good job guys. I need to head to HQ and learn, because I was watching some good 10th Planet game yesterday. BTW, what time did everyone who did expert end up going at? I got bumped up a weight class and it took forever, and all for a crappy showing.

I agree with letting people off in all other divisions. In expert you know better. He dared me to break it and I was yeller.

Agreed. Chokes are fool proof. I had a triangle locked in too and went for the armbar because it is a higher % for me. Hindsight tells me I should of focused on finishing it. I fuckin hate hindsight. Loops over and over and over. Shoulda broke the arm shoulda stayed with the triangle shoulda snapped that shit damn i had the triangle.. Losing when all the lights are on teaches like no other venue. Never are your faults and holes so brightly illuminated. I know exactly what I need to do now to grow. Love jj :)

I am superduper proud of Scotty. He has become a seasoned competitor and is actually an intimidating presence in his division. For anybody that knows him this is hilarious.

Blake Jordan almost killed a guy. It was scary. Vid comin.

Was it Blake who had an awesome marcelotine? That guy was out for a long time before they called it.

Yeah it was great to meet you guys. I'd love to come out and train with you this Summer.

It makes me feel a little better that guy went on to win but he smashed me. I didn't even want to look at the score after tour match lol. I have so much to improve on.

He smashed me as well. I definitely should have finished that heel hook...but in retrospect I should have just pulled guard from the get go and sent his ass through the gauntlet. It was nice to meet you man, your more than welcome to crash on the couch anytime you wanna come down and train.

Scott, you did an incredible job. You showed a very dangerous guard and a diverse skill set. Everybody who came into your game left that tournament disappointed in themselves. You made the entire organization proud!

Thank you Brandon, it means a lot. Ultimately though, I have to up my game a ton in order to compete at a high level in Advanced/Expert which is my goal. It's always good to have a loss to motivate you... or so I've found out here recently. We'll have to get together soon and train!
