Failed third option!

Hmm. Look at how the top guy bases and drives him back. Not sure this was an intentional guard pull. Looks like it could be just a botched single countered with kind of an instinctual reversal by his opponent.
Third option: CLINCH and pull. All that space got him beat up.

Quit braggin Cody...lol. His intention was to get the takedown. Yes, but when that was breaking down it looked to me he trying to pull guard.

I can see something like this happening to me once or twice. Brian is right though. To much space. Didn't look bad, but you cant get used to chillin under them playing with b-hooks without crazy movement constantly attacking his base.

I did say failed. I know Brian is right as far as proper way to get into the third option. But, he did go into guard and this is just another BJJ Blackbelt failing in guard in MMA!

Sure Jon that's a successful one! Nicely done too! Of course the competition level between both fighters weren't close to being equal.IMO. Too bad Drysdale stop fighting MMA.

Really? I thought he opted out of ADCC in order to train for MMA. Where did you hear this?

Let me rephrase. I should've said,"Too bad Drysdale is treating his MMA career like a hobby( 3 fights since july 2010).His last fight was last June against Mike Nichols from Ultimate Fighter. With the lack of fights and not going up against very competitive competition. It was my opinion that he's done...maybe 1 or 2 more fights,IMO. But shit I could be wrong and all this time off he could be training with Master Toddy, developing a sick stand up game. I would love to see him against some good competition.

Ya the title should have said failed guard. Anybody can pull guard but you have to have a scary guard for it to be a legit option.

Thats how it looked to me too. He seemed off balance enough that if he didnt pull guard Brookins would have drove to mount.

What? C'Mon Man you know all those Brazilian Black Belts have the best guards! They been doing it forever!

I thought he would have been better off going to X guard instead of the reaper but meh, what the hell do I know.
