Yikes.
On a side note, I may be in love with Ronda Rousey. I have spoken to my wife about this, and she says we can probably work through it and save our marriage.

I'll hold onto Rhonda untill you and the wife work things out. :P
Congrats to Honda!!!!
Five 1st round armbar victories if I'm correct. Dang, Ronda is one bad mama. Props to miesha for showed heart.
I think the ref could have saved Tate's arm. What y'all think?
The video is still loading for me, but the ref kinda seems like he is at a pro wrestling match.
Knowing Ronda's strength, Tate's armbar defense could have been better. I think she should have turned into Ronda and dive her elbow to the mat. There was nothing the other way. Easy to say from my couch!
im wondering what tate is thinking now. shoulda tapped? or i cant believe that b!$# broke my arm!! lol either way she shouldve seen that coming lol
beutiful skills Ronda is the Arm bar Asassin
If the ref would have stopped it that would have turned it into a contraversy. Now there is no doubt, Honda is the Champ.:cool:
really nice swim move
No doubt sure but at the price of her arm? We all know when it's over, maybe not the general public. Refs job is to protect the fighter so the fighter can fight til the end knowing the ref is there to protect. If that's how I made a living, I would want my arm. Having no doubt is for our benefit, not the fighters.
That was one hell of a fight! I'm gonna watch it again..! :)
Ronda has crazy techniques.. should be fun to see her striking evolve, and if she becomes good with the rubber guard it would be awesome!
Megamegu and Ronda, my favs..!
i disagree, an arm is not a head. You can recover from a broken arm, not brain damage. The fighter knows when the arm is going to break, if the ref gets involved they would of been uproar from meisha. Unlike head trauma, where the fighter could be oblivious to the consequences during the moment of a fight.
Anyone else laugh when Mauro Ranallo said, "No glove lost between these two," at the start of the fight?
So refs can call in the doctor because of a cut but if the ref would have stepped in when the arm was obviously broken it would have been bad? Dumb move on Tates part because so what if she had gotten out. Her arm is still broke and the doctor would have called it anyways. Stupid
I noticed this too. I think she was just emotional. She put all that pressure on herself by trash talking so much before the fight that when it was finally over she just wanted to put all those competitive feelings aside for a while. She says something to that effect in this interview:

What is smarter? Caught in a deep arm bar and getting your arm broke and losing the fight, spend months rehabilitating the arm (big nog) or being caught in the same arm bar and tapping, going home with all limbs in place.
i think the ref is probably an idiot, and didn't really know what was happening. but i'm happy there was no chance for controversy. we all know there would have been had it been stopped earlier.
here's some stuff nick diaz was saying about it on twitter. https://twitter.com/#!/nickdiaz209

Congrats to Ronda Rousey
@nickdiaz209
The refs are just as bad as the judges in this sport sad to see that go to far because of the ref
@nickdiaz209
Lol no one is acknowledging the ignorance
@nickdiaz209
fighters should vote for refs Or have them all learn from big jon, get a blue belt train jiujitsu it's not that hard to learn basics
People talk shit about Mario Yamasaki alllll the time, and he's a 4th degree black belt in judo and BJJ.
For as long as mma exists there will always be people complaining about the judging, the fighters, the decisions, the stoppages, the refs, the publicity, the style match ups, fighters making "excuses", and most of all other fans of the sport.
Tate deserves enough respect as a fighter to decide how far she wants to take it, including deciding to allow it to break instead of tapping out.
It is like Chris use to say about trying to post your arm to avoid being thrown in Judo "If it is the Olympics, you can risk your arm and try to post to avoid being thrown, anything less, just take the fall and fight another day". I guess the Strikeforce championship is close enough to "MMA Olympics".
Yamasaki is a veteran of over 180 fights in the UFC, Strikeforce, WEC, EliteXC and Pride Fighting Championships.
Holy shit, I had no idea!
I was terrified and falling in love at the same time.
