Kakuto Challenge 5 -- Sub-only in Atlanta -- and Rigan Machado Seminar

Metro Atlanta, Georgia - The Kakuto Submission Challenge returns to Metro Atlanta for the fifth time in history on March 21, 2015. “Kakuto 5: Respect” is taking place at Kennesaw Mountain High School from 8:00 am-7:00 pm.

The Kakuto Submission Challenge is the largest, fastest growing event of its kind and will feature Amateur and Professional Submission Grapplers from all over the world as they gather to put their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, C.A.M.B.O./Sambo, Judo, and Catch Wrestling submission skills to the test. The competition includes Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced/Expert divisions for Ladies-Only, Co-ed Adult, and Co-ed Teens (ages 13+), as well as a Pro-Am Invitational to start the event off.

Amateurs who compete in the Absolute division will have an opportunity to win cash prizes and custom medals. The 6-person Pro-Am Invitational will feature Heavy Weights Tex Johnson (current champ, Team Lepri/Alliance), Kaliffa Oliveira (Gracie Barra Alabama), Stephen Eakin (Rush MMA/American Top Team), Chris Sutton (Carroll Bros. BJJ), Kelly Anundson (American Top Team Coconut Creek, FL), and Chase Horton (Cobra BJJ) and they’ll be battling it out under our exclusive modified round robin format for the Championship Cup and up to $1000.00 cash.

Athletes in the Open Tournament can compete in Gi, Gi-optional (no-gi), and Absolute (open weight class). The winner is declared ONLY in the event of a submission rather than by scoring points which making this competition unique and very exciting.

Several vendors will be onsite including clothing, mouth guards, and food, all available for purchase.

In addition to the tournament, Kakuto is hosting a seminar by 8th Degree “Coral” Belt Master Rigan Machado on March 22nd. Master Machado is a living legend of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community and one of the highest ranked Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners with a most impressive record of 8 world championship titles in addition to 365 wins in BJJ competition; having once gone 13 consecutive years undefeated.

Registration for (one or) both events can be found online at KakutoChallenge.com. One can follow the events on Facebook.com/KakutoChallenge, as well as on Twitter @KakutoChallenge.

Kakuto Submission Challenge’s head referee, Professor Juan Guevara (2nd Degree Black Belt) of Team

Juanaconda Bjj says, “Our competition features THE most original and exciting set of rules which attracts not only many of the very best submission artists in the world, but also cultivates an environment of fun, camaraderie, and sportsmanship “.

This is a fantastic event for competitors and fans alike. It’s an incredible opportunity to challenge their grappling skills and for fans, new and veteran alike, to spectate high-level, world-class athletics.

I hate to see that no one has commented on this.

GUYS. This is hands down my FAVORITE tournament to compete at. There's actually really good food at the venue. They just bought new mats at the last tournament and they are looking to come towards Florida in the future. Honestly, I wish there was a Kakuto in every state. If you've been you know exactly what I mean. Jim and Juan treat everyone with the utmost respect and they try to make each tournie they put on better then the last.

I got to fight SARA MCMANN at the last Kakuto, and hope to be able to fight her again in March. Pre-register chumps, it's worth the drive. Trust me. 10p Gulf Shores and 10P Decatur will be there. No question about it. This is one tournament I will not miss. You'd have to kill me.

HOLY SMOKES, TORI! Thank you so much for such kind words. Byron, Juan, and I treat our tournament the way we treat our Jiu Jitsu--its ever evolving. Our goal is to send our competitors and spectators home more happy and exhausted than the time before! lol. We want to put out a really fun, well-organized event (at a fair price) and we want to save jiu jitsu...

Thank you for your support. We're always so pleased to have the 10thPJJ family show up!

Also of note, Brandon McCaghren of 10thPJJ Decatur, AL will be competing against Quentin Rosenzweig of Knuckle Up/Team Union...which is a little interesting because currently Knuckle Up/Team Union holds the Kakuto Team Trophy from last time...and the truth is that 10thPJJ had it previously. Just saying, it'd be awesome to see 10th Planet show up in force to take back the Team Titles and to support Brandon in his match...

Can you say Brazilian barbecue? Yes, best tournie ever. I like this tournament so much that I fought at Gracie worlds last year and then 6 days later I competed at this tournie with my team bc it is my favorite tournament hands down. :-)
