So what happens WHEN they put Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to the Olympics? I'm going to make sure I'm at the qualifiers repping the 1 and 0! I just hope they have a NoGi division! :)

if it happens.... i'm pretty sure it's gonna be " in tha gi "
It wont, from what I understand there are a whole bunch of requirements that have to be met not just throw in a new sport.
Lets be honest.. If it works no-gi.. its going to work in the gi. Either way its looking likely that 10th planet might be repping Mercuh! ;)
I just hope we dont all get disqualified when they drug test :/
From the way I understand the process they pretty much already have all the details figured out for the next Olympics. So if they had added BJJ to the Olympics it will have already been decided. I havent heard anything about it so I doubt we'll see it. Oh well ADCC is our Olympics.
Lol chances are slim
That's some good information bro, but the Jitz in me hopes the powers that be take this 4 long years to take a closer look at our sport and how we love it just like the Judo and TKD practitioners do. If by some chance you're right B, then ADCC will be my Olympics in 2014. :)
@Chronic, as far as the DT goes... Shit, this will be good to see who are the real deal and who are puffed up on the juice. ya know? Natural athleticism versus the weak ass posers. ;)
What kind of requirements brotha? Wouldn't it be easy for them to piggyback off Judo and go from there?
Googled it: 1, it needs to have an International Federation that governs the sport, sets and enforces rules, organizes tournaments, etc.
#2, it needs to be practiced in at least 50 countries (female sports) or 75 countries (male sports)
#3, it needs to hold World Championships.
#4, it needs to be recognized by the IOC, and finally,
#5, it needs to be voted in to the games by a 2/3 majority of IOC members at the first IOC meeting following each Olympic Games.
You are thee researcher brotha. thanks for the intel. :) Although I just started my Jiu Jitsu path a year ago, I'm down to see how big and how much further we can make Jiu Jitsu.
10th Planet Ninjas lead the way!!
I think it would be good for JJ to get it on a world stage exposing it to another level. To people who have never heard of it. But it could also hurt the sport if the majority of people see it as only a sport and abandon it as a self defense. It may take the same route tae kwon do took once it entered the olympics... I think self defense is an important part of JJ. But all in all id like to see it in the Olympics. The exposer would be grand. Im just not sure there is enough competition spread out world wide... The same reason American Football isn't in the Olympics.
But it could also hurt the *art* not sport sorry :P
@Gatorrrr... I hear you brotha. It baffles me though when I ask cats are they interested in learning JJ, and they say "What's that?"
