Were people kind to me as a tourist? Good question. In general I would say they weren't really kind or rude. They were sort of indifferent..but I've also done enough traveling to know that being a "tourist" tends to be an insult. Picture they guy with the Hawaiin shirt and the camera around his neck with a glob of sunscreen on his nose. I just kind of did my best to blend in while doing my own thing. Like any foreign country I've been to, if you show a genuine attempt at their language and learning about their culture, they will be kind to you unless they have a chip on their shoulder. If you are snobby and look down on their way of life and their "gibberish" you'll be treated the way you deserve to be. Brazil is different from alot of places you'll go to because it isn't a "tourist trap"....it's not all Disneylandy and stuff. Seriously, you will have a blast. I can't wait to go back some day.
So far I have a pretty good idea of places to go and things to see but I am still not sure where to drop in for some No Gi Jiu Jitsu... Can anyone give me a specific gym that I ahould go to to drop in? Thanks!

Toxoplasmosis is in the cat shit so you're good there. HIV is in the other kitty so ya know... ...don't eat that either. At least not the Brazilian kind.
