Headed to NYC
Hello Forum,
I'm headed to NYC in two weeks for work and then a few days vacation which basically means I'm staying to train at Marcelo's and maybe Renzos. Being somewhat of a Jiu Jitsu geek I realized that is the only thing I actually have planned so wondering if anyone has any suggestions for other things I should do. Food, sightseeing other cool NYC tourist things I should look into. I'm staying in Manhattan around the corner from Marcelo's. Any suggestions would be appreciated or if anyone else will be there the week of the June 25th give me a shout.
Thanks,
Johnny Ho

NYC is pretty sick to see from the top of the Empire State Building. Grand Central Park is worth your time too.

Nice, I think I'm gonna be right there for the Empire state building and maybe some running around central park for cardio! Stoked to train at Marcelo's for sure but I was bummed to hear he's injured so I probably won't be getting choked out by him this trip. I wish I could hit Rochester and train with Herzog again but it's too far this trip!

Other good options to train would be Matt Serra or Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro. Yankees (suck) but are playing at home the next two weeks.

Since you're a student of Denny's you might want to hit up Astoria Queens and send him back some Feta (I'm Greek, I can joke). But seriously there is some killer Greek food 4 stops away on the Q train. If you don't know axe somebody!
Yankee games are great. The new stadium is nice. Take the D train to the E 161 St & River Ave stop. Don't hang out to long after the game. I've worked in that area for the last 13 years. Yankee games are a little misguiding of the way the area really is. Before the game it's "the great white flood." Every dumb, white kid and their mother (literally) are flooding in and they have no clue. The cops call the place "Pickle Park" when the lights turn off. All the tranny hookers and drug dealers come back out, and the cops basically go away.
Go to Stan's for a few beers after the game then get back to Manhattan. Once you get above 100th St remember you're not in Kansas anymore. You could be in The Bronx. If not then you're definitely in Harlem. If I wasn't going to be in Cancun that week for a wedding I'd take you to a game myself. And don't give the guy with the "Why lie, I need a beer" sign any money. That guy makes a killing every game. Don't buy any crap off the guys on the street either.
Have fun and don't get locked up. The tombs suck!
