BJJ/JJ vs ????? videos anyone?

hey guys, was wondering if anyone woul dhappen to have or know where I can find videos of Brazilian Jiu jitsu or regular jiu jitsu vs, taekwondo, karate, kung fu, etc.

Tryin to get my girlfriend into jiu jitsu, but shes a die hard TKD fan.

even me i love TKD but in the end, i think its mostly for show, in a real fight you wont pull off any fancy spin kicks or flashy show moves. it comes down to what works.

she doesnt believe that JJ or BJJ will dominate TKD or any other art.
I explained the track of closing the distance, and bringing the fight to the ground, and finnishing the fight. she isnt aware that BJJ and JJ practitioners do more than grapple.

tried finding TKD vs BJJ/JJ video sbut no luck.

kicking is like a whip I guess in theory, most of the power is released near the lower shin/actual foot area, if you close the distance, you cant use that "Whip" and kick effectively.

Just challenge her to a bare knuckle fight were she can go vale tudo on you while you can't hit her and promise not to injure her. Low single.. and the rest is muscle memory.

TKD spinning kicks are killer. and bjj cant dominate anything if you cant get it to the ground, so having some sort of standup is awesome and I think TKD is awesome, just check out the power of Chung lee and his TKD in mma.

So if you dont have good takedowns I would suggest letting her kick ur ass :P

lol I admit, that i am a TKD fan, but in the reality of it all, in a real fight you go with what is most effective and what you can quickly access. a straight kick or roundhouse is quicker and more effective than a flashy 360 kick.

lol i wouldnt hurt her, over half the times she tries to roll with me i let her win. would never put my hand a female let alone my girl.

I think a lot of TKD artists would find the clinch to be a nightmare too. I still want to see a killer Hapkido / BJJ guy in MMA. ;)

They work mate. They work good. look at Chung lee and Dennis Siver. ofc they dont work if you dont do em fast en have good technique tho.

One spinning back kick can end a fight real fast. And I was supposed to write "o if you dont have good takedowns I would suggest NOT letting her kick ur ass :P"

Look at first UFC's ofc Royce won when he got it on the ground, cause no one else knew what to do from their back. and he had his superman outfit on

i think the thing that is oblivious to many people about JJ and BJJ is that they see it on TV and on the internet and think both are strictly grappling only.

Like I said : If you dont have good takedowns (meaning the whole setup for it and the takedown itself) its gonna get hard against a good TKD prac.

You must also remember that TKD and Karate also are great on closing the distance, striking and getting the hell out of dodge.

And then there's multiple attacker scenarios; if we're going to talk "reality" fighting. I love ground work, but I'm glad I can kick too! Who's going to win the basketball game? The team with the 3-point specialists, or the team that can drive and break? Bzzz! The team that can do both!!

Your forgetting that Cung Le is good at clinch and groud stuff so he can throw those excellent kicks without worry. A pure TKD against a pure BJJ blue belt or above has no chance sorry this has been proved.

I totaly agree that a excellent TKD prac. can tip the scales. But what I'm trying to get my girlfriend and most people to understand is that in the rush and reality of a real fight
you go for what most accessable,quick, and effective.

TKD you favor a bit of a distance to perform effective kicks and kick with some power.
JJ/BJJ Close the distance, bring th fight to the grond.

it seems like a constant push pull on distance.

I practiced a little TKD before and I love it, but I honestly dont see myself or anyone really going for 360/540 spin kicks. at the most maybe spinning round house or a spinning back kick. but most would be quick snap kicks, front and side kicks.

If you have someone 6 inches away from you, its very difficult do kick effectively, you cant even raise your knee to a 90 degree angle in front of you, unless your really good in the clinch, seems your only leg attack options are dead legging the crap out of them.

Pure TKD guys saying that they can beat BJJ guys because they don't know striking is rubbish. They watch UFC, see strikers do well, point out one guy who throws a spin kick or a high kick, and says that is proof. Issue is, TKD guys don't train how to stuff and counter take downs. You don't need a good take down at all, really. Just rush them and grab a leg, and they'll probably fall over. They don't train wrestling and sprawling or anything like that. The entire idea of TKD is "A short man's legs are still as long as a tall man's arms, therefore if I use kicks, it takes away the height advantage of a larger attacker, making it effective for the smaller man." No where in there is does it prepare someone for a guy who hunts for a take down. This dispute was settled years ago by things like the Gracie challenge. Do I think TKD has a place in mixed martial arts? Duh, I was a TKD guy for years. Do I think it's the king striking art that should be the center of your game, and can put the hurting on people? No. Very few moves from TKD are effective in MMA and real world defense. However, a few are, and are worth learning (Case in point, the spin kick).

My point exactly, As a martial artist you pretty much have to love every style for what it is. every martial artist can point out pro's and cons of each style and have mutual respect for it. TKD is very fun and good but in a street fight, in my heart I know a TKD practitioner will definately not fair well against BJJ/JJ or kick boxing.

if a TKD prac. goes for a kick to the ribs and their leg is caught, what are their options? if a BJJ/JJ or kick boxer catches the leg, the end is near because the TKD practitioners main weapon is being controlled and he no longer can use it. With a leng caught, the BJJ/JJ prac. is more than well in their comfort area of practice.

Yes TKD guys can kick hella hard, but im sure just about any BJJ/JJ practioner can take a few good blows on their way into the takedown.

I think you have fucked up Bruce Lee's saying. Lee said "I fear not the man who has practiced a thousand kicks, but the one who has practiced one kick a thousand times." And that makes a lot more sense than what you said.
