How many VETS train BJJ and are registered on the forum? Speak up here.

I was texting with Eddie about my recent meeting with the Congressman in Colorado about Vet issues...and one of those things was about a medication that is illegal for us vets to be prescribed by the VA. A medication called Tetrahydrocannabinol, aka THC. It's not about the "feeling maaaan" type research anymore. We identified the single cannaboid, CBD, that's naturally occurring in the brain. We know it helps. Hate it or not, it's a tool that WILL help vets suffering from PTSD.
Big and small, this medication has personally helped me, and a few other friends that I know, take a step back from the edge.

That shit is scary. I'm doing what I can to help those who need help just like I did.

Republican, Democrat or WHATEVER you may be, you have to admire how direct he is. He was a REAL guy who truly does speak on our behalf on THIS issue especially.
I'm telling you, I met his nanny and son. Oh, did I mention that he is the first openly gay Congressman that has a son with his partner? Yeah. It's about time.

Your experience doesn't have to be as serious as mine...any tiny bit helps. PTSD is a killer. As vets, we all know someone who is having a hell of a time with it.
Tracking progress (which takes a few moments with my journal entry form) is HUGE on congress floor...especially from Vets.

Might be a bit off subject, but Krystle Cole is doing a facebook survey for a book she is working that investigates the use of MDMA as a potential treatment for PTSD.

I heard there was a study using low dosages of psilocybin (mushrooms) as well. I'm interested in seeing their results.

Probably get just as much, if not more red tape to deal with as THC since they could both be grown at home. Cant make money off of people growing there own medication. Gotta keep em hooked on anti-depressants and benzodiazepines(anti-anxiety). Money, money, money... So backwards :(

Im not a VET or active duty, but im a military brat, my Father and Mother both served in the navy and i have an uncle that retired from the Marines as a Master Gunny. I also im and stoner and jiu jitsu practioner so i support this on all levels. I have a couple of friends who served and are out, now having to deal with PTSD. So this is very close to home for me. I haven't herd anything about this research but man its seems like every day new information is coming out how this plant is showing how it is helping people everyday.

So true they even hate on the moonshiners and alcohol is legal. They dont want us being self sufficient...big corporation loves using the government to enforce capitalism but doesnt want any competition..

6 years in the Marine Corps and an Afghanistan and Iraq vet here man, have been dealing with PTSD and haven't really been able to smoke, still doing reserves and wife doesn't really like, so I stopped, I used to smoke quit a bit though especially when I got home from Iraq, but now I try to balance out my PTSD with meditation and when my finances get better Jiu Jitsu. If there is anyway how can I help the great Ken Madden let me know? :)

Currently serving in the Army (1/503rd INF ABN) and there was a recent article written in "Stars and Stripes" about the use of MDMA, combined with therapy sessions, to help treat PTSD. They report early success in their initial cases, but also go on to saying that more expansive human trials are needed.

MDMA is another thing that could help. These are the things that we need to look at scientifically instead of allowing our previous reservations make an impact on our health. Thank you guys for coming forward too.

US Army 1997-2004:cool: PTSD, permanent muscle & nerve damage in lower back and left leg woohoo. The herb is my savior dont care what anyone says about it. It helps me with pain and nightmares.

I was in the Air Force for 3 years as a Fire Fighter. Have never been medically diagnosed with PTSD, but def struggled with some stuff I saw. If I had the $ for it I would be smoking on a more regular basis, it has been about 4 months since the last time I've done it. I would have to give most credit to the 3 years of Jitsu training that has allowed me to get a better handle on it. I strongly agree that THC has a great impact when dealing with the symptoms of PTSD.

PTSD causes flashbacks and bad memories that make people react differently than they "should"
Someone who went through a very bad earthquake can experience PTSD if a truck were to drive by and shake the ground.

Why cannabis works, is because of a cannabinoid called CBD. it works by stimulating the naturally occurring cannabinoid receptors in the brain that help people "forget". Also included in the benefits are the anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, anti-psychotic, anti-seizure and pain relieving properties. There are new strains that have a very low THC level (that can be high-LESS) and high CBD levels. HUGE for those who are specifically using Cannabis for a strict medical purpose.
