Another huge detail that improved my crucifix game was the idea of pairing it with the kimura, as the kimura to side control is a killer bailout option if you ever feel like your opponent might escape. I've also seen Vagner Rocha show the "cop move" aka hammer lock as an option from the crucifix.

I am starting to favor Baret Yoshida's setup over Marcelo Garcia's setups I have seen, but I am using any that work and I am hunting for the crucifix everywhere I see it at the moment be it from side control, turtle, sprawl, back, half guard, double under counter, etc.
