I've been playing with this position for the better part of 4 years now. I prefer going straight to the cloverleaf because it stops your opponent from being able to spin out of the position. The toe hold is somewhat difficult to finish live because of the angle but that cloverleaf is just straight money. I don't even get to most of the other options because they usually always tap to the cloverleaf which is always my first option. There is also a nasty short ankle lock from there, an inverted heal hook and an easy kneebar if they dont tap to the cloverleaf and a calf crusher. We call it the death trap because there are so many options off this position. I only know of 1 escape and it can be prevented if you are aware of it. So its pretty much get into the position and the match is over.
Awesome stuff. After Barncat's seminar a few months ago, I have been hitting leglocks in this position constantly.
Michael Bartlett you stay off my damn legs!!!
awesome :) need to practice it. thanks for the vid.
Is the cloverleaf legal in all competitions or only a select few? Would love to hit that in a comp
Most competitions are not going to allow a knee reap. Also, on the Achilles lock, they may think you're doing an inside heel hook, which unless you're in expert, is also illegal (and in some competitions is illegal even in expert).
ibjjf, five, other local comps for me - all illegal. Naga is the only one that allows everything.
i love this!!!!!
Awesome!
