I'd say 80% of my finishes are armbars, and I'd say half of those come from mount, transitions into mount, or transitions out of mount.
There's a reason we have warmup escapes from there.

That video by Vinny is helpful. I'm honestly surprised so many people are saying they love the armbar from the mount. I assume most of you are no-gi only guys are mostly no-gi. The mount seems to be less common without the gi as a go to attack position since so many subs are lost without the lapels. The mounted armbar is always something I've struggled with. It helps to go to s mount first and I'm going to try some things in that Vinny Magalhaes video.
Are there any good mounted armbar specialists to watch? Rafa Mendes probably has the most armbars of any no-gi guy I can think of but he gets most of his from the back and the kimura grip.
You know, watching those videos, I gotta say......Zog does it better. LOL. I know I'm totally that guy. Whatever. I'm absolutely not knocking those videos. Vinny and Roger are obvious legends. But I gotta say, Zog is a kick ass teacher. The way he teaches S mount is so damn killer. You pull the guy into your lap. May not seem like that big a deal, but it makes the position so much tighter. I think that's the reason my big ass can get mounted triangles with ease from there. I can barely triangle from guard. But from S mount, if the guy makes the mistake of sneaking his arm under my leg, I get a wicked tight triangle. And getting my leg over for the armbar is money.
I'll bug him on FB about it. If we're lucky he'll hook us up.
Would love to see a Zog Mount video!
