OK so aside from double lotus and butterfly what are everyone's go to stretches?
I do the Gymnastic Bodies Stretch Series which is a series of Front Split, Middle Split, Thoracic Bridge, Pancake, Pike, Shoulder Flexion and Shoulder Extension stretches.
hurdler stretch and hug the knee tight as shit
For what it's worth, I'm formally a certified yoga teacher and interned for something called stretch therapy where we worked with athletes (mostly NHL and pro golf). One thing that a lot of guys have issue with (and that prevents rubber guard etc) has less to do with flexibility and more to do with mobility. Not to say you shouldn't keep doing stretches everyday. But also try to include pelvic rocking in the mix, baby craddle on each leg, and internally and externally rotating your leg femurs in your hips. This will rapidly 'open the hips'
downward facing dog
Besides double lotus and butterfly, my favorite is pigeon yoga pose.
Btw, very nice advice by Chris Admes!
I do other types of stretches here and there but these are the ones I probably end up doing most of the time for rubber guard flexibility and warm up.
In addition to butterfly, half lotus, full lotus, upward/downward dog etc.
