I just saw MTS 118 and tried to get into the Gogo Clinch position during a roll. I managed to get into the Jersey position and was trying the new path but I could not get my foot from the back of my opponent's head to the front of his neck because his head was really low (on my chest). What should I do when I am in the Jersey position and the opponent puts his head to my chest and I can't clear my leg and bring it over his head? Your advise is appreciated.

Try turning more on your side. In other words do not be flat on your back. You can go pretty far over on your side almost belly down and your foot will be right in front of his face. And you can also use your forearm to push his face a little.
Mark is right! Escape your hip and get to your side a little more. Belly down is a huge move.
I agree with previous answers that say to get more on your side. I will add that the butterfly that is "trapped" (what makes it New Jersey instead of new york) is a big part of what gets and keeps me on my side. I extend that a whole lot, getting me way more on my side than I usually am in New York.
If that much on your side doesn't work, go all the way belly down, both hands on the mat, being careful to keep the arm with a good pinch, then sweep him over to the bottom by walking your hands on the mat towards him. Then you do the same stuff from rubber guard top only he can't squish you and take away space anymore.

I often find trying to set up the meathook triangle will force his head toward bottom leg(if he defends properley), allowing me to clear the head.
I love comboing these attacks, when he defends on side I attack the other.
If I am doing the Rubber Guard by using my right hand to hold my left leg, do I turn to my left or right side to go belly down?
I would switch to meat hook and attempt to triangle the guy, if he defends the triangle his head will likely be in a perfect position for gogo clinch.. it's hard to defend both : )Quote:
