Large Arm Bruise from Darce

I gotta give a shout out to JC, who recently was visiting HQ from the UK....I was rolling with him earlier this week and had him a couple of darces for a long time. I was squeezing hard for probably over 45 seconds each time, but I couldn't get him....during the roll, after I realized he wasn't going to tap, I just decided to at least try to work on my squeezing endurance by counting seconds in my head....I think overall, he was in probably two and half minutes of darce chokes which I think is usually a pretty good spot for me, but he did not tap.

JC, you're a tough dude, and a good teammate - happy to have you rep 10th planet across the pond. I heard you were staying with Renato Laranja, so maybe some of his gi privates helped....

Check out these pics of the bruise that developed on my arm yesterday. I don't know if you can tell by the pics, but it is pretty big...I haven't seen an arm bruise like that before, and I did it to myself! It only hurts a little and I can still roll, so we're all good....

Damn man! I thought I had some sqeezing endurance with my Darce! That's intense. Must've had some strong neck!

Don't give up dude, if you wanna get somewhere, you can't give in. If its bearable, take it, if you're going out, make the littlest bit of space so you stop going out ;) If you can't make that space, tap!

Its true and its not just draces either, my 5 finger guillotines dont work.

Keep those photos in a folder. They'll come in handy whenever you want to file false domestic abuse claims.

Thats simple. When I work with JC I show him how to defense with the Gi. Now,when he don't have the Gi,his body still gonna remember how to defense. It's gonna be like he still have the Gi. Plus that guy is a Tough guy.

That makes perfect sense, Renato. If I bring my gi sometime to class, can you show me what you're talking about?

It's crazy, I used to think the Gi sucked for MMA and no-gi grappling, but my defense has greatly improved. It's weird. You have to get a private with Renato to understand it for yourself, but trust me guys!

Those are the bruises of a D'Arce-ing machine. Nathan is beast status.

I'm interested in seeing it like 3 days from now when it gets all nasty and purple.

Maybe get a daily progression of the big bruise? Haha.

tried to darce someone tonight and had to pullback for the necktie instead - it's like tapping yourself out when you squeeze someone's neck with that arm....japanese might be a better overall move anyway, i'm starting to like it more and more...

I've had people survive darces as well. It's one of the only subs I still won't let go if I feel I'm locked and I end up squeezing out my arms. I haven't had anybody wait out a j. necktie yet. Even if they're not bein choked the neck crank sucks.

You should have tapped to your own sub by the look of that bruise.

The Japanese necktie is the shit!
Why? because all you need is the vice grip on, after that you just have to fall on your side.
It's super easy to apply and the success rate is really really high. It's hard to fuck it up lol
