Does anyone else get sore after stretching? I've been doing a couple of hours a day, everyday, but I think I was making better progress with less soreness when I was stretching 4 times a week - I'm just addicted to stretching. By the way, so close to the double lotus without hands it's just plain Arrrrgghhh!!!! Not bad I suppose for a 43 old that had semi rigamortis before I started my stretch routine 6 months ago.

I never stretch unless I have effectively warmed up with a serious cardio warmup. I don't know if you're stretching cold, but if you are, that's probably why you are experiencing soreness afterwards.
I you do an intese warmup, and get the blood flowing and all your tissues warmed up, and then stretch, you won't experience any soreness. My background is TKD, and after our warmups, I always run through my kicking stretches while we have our water break, trying to get my flexibility back to what it was 15 years ago.

But the secret is to do stretches when your limbs are hot.
EDITED - I just wanted to add that you don't need to stretch for hours every day, if you stretch when you're hot. A couple times a week will be just as sufficent (or more) than hours a day of stretching while cold

See i'm opposite, if I dont stretch before class I get really stiff & sore. I'll jog for a minute to warm up & then run through my stretches. Then after class I stretch again. Works great for me.
Yeah, the soreness is like after a really intense session on the weights. It probably is the warm up part that I need as I only do dynamic stretches for my warm up before hitting the static stretches hard. I need to cut back on the stretching for sure. I wonder if there's a 10th Planet stretching addiction self help group? All sat round in a circle in the double lotus..."Yes, I'm addicted to stretching. What i've noticed from my yoga practice is that that happens from over stretching, if you're sore from one session as opposed to being sore on your third or fourth session of the week (which i think is a different kind of sore).
But I think 'stretching' is not the same as yoga at all, they're just similar. Maybe adopt some yoga principles into your stretching? Such as posture, breath ect.
