One thing that works for me is to shrimp out and threaten to reclaim guard. When then try to put pressure on me, I can use the space I've created to stomp their foot into alignment. If they are so afraid of my lockdown that they won't try to close off the space, I can usually go to butterfly.

I say don't give up on that lockdown so easily. If you act like you're going for the electric chair sweep without the lock down you can get real deep underneath them and their leg straightens out. Slip in the lock down and start working that game. This is gym and tournament tested for me so I know it works.
As stated. If they are lifting foot vertically, that leg becomes lighter and easy to slip in butterfly hook
If they turn foot inside to 90 degrees " hiding " the leg I go to 93 guard and look for kimura/ sweep
